Dear Everitt Families:
Thank you, PTA, for the wonderful waffle breakfast for staff this week! Our staff felt cared for and we were so touched by your kindness.
February is notorious in education for being a challenging month. It's cold and dreary and winter feels like it is dragging on. Our students, families and staff are finding ways to bring some joy and light to February. Our band and orchestra, in conjunction with Wheat Ridge High School's band and orchestra, played beautiful music on Thursday night. Our Sea Camp students are selling delicious pretzels to help fund their trip. There was an art sculpture competition in art class where students created 3D sculptures of "old school" objects. Our 7th graders bravely presented about businesses they have been studying. Our 8th graders crashed eggs -- see the video below. And our new sign is now literally lighting up!
We have lots of fun coming up as well! Our band, orchestra, choir and theatre students will be going to see the Wheat Ridge High School musical, 8th grade has a movie night on March 10th, 6th grade has a glow-in-the-dark dance on March 11th, and we have a spirit week coming up, too. We have much to look forward to and much to be thankful for.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

Lunch Bunch and Thursday Morning Volunteers:
Want to lend a hand at the school? Sign up to spend some time socializing with the students during lunch and recess or on Thursday mornings before late start. Thank you in advance for donating your time and making our community stronger!
Lunches are broken up into 3 sections. With some exceptions, they are generally 6th graders 1st, 7th graders 2nd and 8th graders 3rd. Each lunch is 30 minutes. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays they run one after another, on the block days of Wednesday and Thursday there is a 10-15 minute gap between lunch sections. If you want to come for just one or 2 sections that is no problem, but you are also welcome to stay the entire lunch time!
When you arrive go to the main office to sign-in and fill out volunteer paperwork (the first time only) and then head to the cafeteria or library. You can bring an activity (like a football, 4 square ball etc) or just join in with what's going on!
Questions? Email everittpta@gmail.com or call 720-291-1435 (Dan Weinstein)

Jillian R. - Jillian helped another student when she was walking with her breakfast and some of her items fell on the ground, Jillian picked the items up and helped the student walk down the stairs and to her classroom with Mr. Choi. Jillian is very kind and caring.
Maddox L. -Max volunteered multiple times in class and really showed leadership within his group. During a recent activity, Max was often the only one speaking, even when others were strongly encouraged to participate. Great job!
Peyton S. - Since day one, Peyton has always been an amazing student in the classroom. She is consistently helping others, pushing herself for higher achievement, on task, participating, and a joy to have in class.
Akelin H. - Akelin has come to understand the value in coming to class to learn about the content being taught and do the activity that helps him analyze the importance of the historical moment. This effort has resulted in an improved grade and a stronger academic effort.
Emily D. - Showing respect by doing work, trying her best, and improving on turning in work when it is due.
Aiden A. - As a new member of our crew, Aiden stepped forward, volunteered and listened well. Together with his partner, he was able to solve a difficult challenge.

Belle R. - Belle was nervous for her Social Studies presentation, but her performance and work for the project was exceptional! She overcame her fear of presenting and totally rocked it!
Maya W. - Maya always comes to class with a smile and a positive attitude. She takes risks with sharing her thinking (even when she's not sure if she's on the right track)! Maya helps our class lessons move forward and become interactive. Thanks for being a bright spot!
Jaiden G. - Jaiden worked really hard on his PBL project and created his presentation using a unique method! Keep up the awesome work.
Christian S. - Christian is working hard to be more of a community builder every Wednesday.
Christian S. - Wow, talk about growth this year! Christian has proved he has what it takes to be a positive force in the classroom. From increased work completion to providing valuable animal insight, we love to hear your thoughts in class. Way to believe in yourself and grow this year!
Elijah C. - Elijah went out of his way to include others, and make them feel welcome. A student came in late to class and Elijah right away asked them to join in on the game. He used his positivity to ensure that everyone felt included and valued.
