Gregory Gardens Weekly Bulletin

Week of May 27, 2019

Greetings from Administration

Happy Monday families,

We hope you found a way to celebrate the long weekend and are ready to take on a new week. Last week our Kinders took a field trip to the Oakland Zoo. Huge thank you to our Kindergarten teachers and families for their flexibility with this trip, we are so glad our kiddos had a wonderful time. 5th graders have been getting ready for promotion. We are looking forward to celebrating their time at Gregory Gardens on June 5th. First and Second graders said goodbye to their baby chicks. We are grateful for the families who adopted them. Thank you Mrs. Para for organizing our 3rd grade recorder concert. Our students are very talented! On Thursday evening we welcomed our incoming Kindergartners to our GGES family. It was great to meet our newest Gators.

If you have volunteered at home or at school, we hope you will join us at our Volunteer Luncheon. We will be in the MUR on Wednesday 5/29 at 12pm. We hope to see you there.

MDUSD will be hosting the Healthy Kids Festival this Thursday night 5/30 from 5:30-7pm at Fair Oaks Elementary. During the event, we will be tasting new lunch/breakfast menu items for next year, host take home garden activities, physical activities for the kids, the food bank will be giving away produce and Bon Appetite will be doing a demonstration. We will have face painting and live music!

We have lots of End of Year activities coming up and with only 7 school days left please continue to arrive at school on time and ready to learn. We continue to work towards supporting student success by setting high expectations for student behavior and academics.

If we can support you in anyway, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Student Drop Off

As the year comes to a close please be sure to respect school drop off procedures. Parents should pull to the end of the drop off circle to say goodbye to students. If you would like to park, please find a spot along the bushes or in the church parking lot. Staff parking lots are reserved for school employees.

To keep our campus safe we ask all families to enter campus through our main hallway. Please refrain from using the gate in front of the assessment center or the gate in front of the 4th/5th grade wing.

Field Day 2019

We are looking for volunteers to man the numerous activity stations at Field Day. What is Field Day you ask? It's a super fun morning with many activity stations, such as an egg toss, hula hoops, bubbles, and possible water ballon toss. Each class will visit every station to learn these different activities while having FUN. But WE NEED HELP! Hint: This is a fun event for fingerprinted grandparents or fun uncles - ask them!

End of Year Picnic

Let's celebrate another great year with your favorite GG friends and classmates. Play games, dance, or relax on the black top! Bring dinner or purchase Mexican food there. Kona Shaved Ice will also be there again for desert. ❤️

Adopt the Garden

It's that time of year again! We need some of our loving families to "Adopt" the School garden for 1 week each over summer break.

When you adopt the garden over summer we need help with watering, maintenance and the best part... Harvesting!

Robert Shearer Preschool

Extended School Year

Due to our summer roofing project, RSP will not be hosting Extended School Year. All students who are eligible to receive ESY services will attend Sequoia Elementary with Nadia Visaya as the Principal. Stay tuned for more information about dates and transportation.

Drop Off/ Pick Up Procedures

We need your help to reinstate best practices for preschool drop off and pick up. Parents may not park or pull into the bus circle between 8:00am-2:30pm. Parents should park in a designated parking stall and walk their student to the preschool. If your child starts at 8:30 please bring them to the playground gate where your teachers will be waiting to receive them. 10:40 students should come into the pod and enter the playground from the back double doors. Teachers will be there to greet students. At dismissal, please park and walk to meet your child outside the pod at the appropriate time. Thank you for helping us streamline our procedures. We appreciate your flexibility.
