PTA Board + ASE Coordinator

Serving as PTA co-presidents has been an incredible volunteer opportunity for both Neil and I. We have had an exciting and productive year so far. The board has made great strides to put our budget to work for students and our campus by green-lighting and funding the purchase of new early reader books, technology for environmental education/Watershed Classroom, smart headphones for 6th grade and new play equipment for kindergarten to list a few. Unfortunately we are both only able to commit to this post through the end of this school year. The board as a whole will have several open positions for the 2019-2020 school year and we are actively searching for parents, particularly of younger students, to engage as PTA board members and in crucial committee positions. Anyone interested in trying their hand at PTA leadership will be well trained and will inherit a PTA that is both organized and well-funded. Here is a list of open positions to date:

PTA President

PTA Executive Vice President

Treasurer

Treasurer of Teacher Supply Fund

Secretary

After School Enrichment Coordinator

We highly encourage anyone who is interested in PTA to please attend our next meeting on Monday, February 4th at 7pm in the Library. Childcare is always provided.

Support For Furloughed Families

Is your family impacted by the Federal government shutdown? Do you need a little extra assistance this month? The McNear community wants to help! Multiple parents have asked the PTA how they can help our McNear community members who have missed a paycheck. Whether it is financial assistance, help with meals, childcare, or even replacing rain boots that your child has grown out of, let us know. All requests will be be treated confidentially. Please email us at mcnearpta@gmail.com

Student Basketball Tournament

Alex Campbell, senior at Casa Grande HS reached out to McNear to let us know that he is putting together putting on a 3 on 3 basketball tournament to fund the installation of a sign on the outside of Casa's gymnasium. This project is very meaningful to Alex as the gym is named after his grandfather who was a longtime coach and teacher at Casa. The tournament will be held on February 23rd. Students will be divided into groups based off of age. All children from 3rd-12th grade, regardless of skill level and experience, will be welcome. See the flyer below.
