Literacy Lore
With an introduction to rhythm and rhyme, students continue to read about lights, shadow and even cameras as they continue practicing to infer meaning from prior knowledge and context to help them become better readers. This week we will teach students that the consonant dia graphs ( letter pairs) ch,sh,th, and wh each make one sound and combine them with our long vowel sounds following the VCe pattern (b-ak-e) to make new words like ch-u-t-e or sh-i-n-e. Grammar skills expand as we introduce declarative and interrogative sentences; now we are questioning and stating in our journals!
Here is a fun digraph song! Songs help us commit knowledge to memory.

Atentamente,
María José de Arriaga
