A Message From Your School Counselor
How many of us have heard our kids say, "I can't do this." This week we are focusing on growth mindset. When we foster a growth mindset our kids begin to believe that their brains and abilities can be developed and grow instead of being fixed and stagnant. They learn they can do hard things. Kind of like this hard distance learning thing we are all trying to do. They also see school as a place to develop their abilities and think of challenges as opportunities to grow.
“In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.” (Dweck, 2015). Here are some activities, books and videos that focus on growth mindset. Enjoy!!

More on Mindfulness
Mindfulness means giving something your full attention.. It means slowing down to really notice what you're doing. Being mindful is the opposite of rushing to get something done. When you're mindful, you're taking your time. You're focusing in a relaxed, easy way. Mindfulness takes practice to get good at it and when you practice mindfulness, you're training your attention.
