Ms. Lowell's 2nd Grade News
April 11, 2014
Shh! It's a secret!
As you know, your second grader will be taking the Terra Nova district assessment during the week of April 21st. In your student's backpack today you will find a manilla envelope with a letter and envelope inside of it. I'm asking you to take a few minutes to write your child an encouraging note, draw them a picture, etc. Then, put it in the envelope and return it to school. I will have these waiting on your child's desk for them when they get to school on the first day of testing. Don't tell them though, we want it to be a surprise! Thanks for your help!
We're Going on a Field Trip!
Information went home last week regarding our next field trip. On next Wednesday, April 16th we will be going to Shawnee Mission East High School to attend the Natural Science Lab. If you haven't already signed and returned the field trip permission slip, please do so on Monday (your child brought home an extra today.) Also, all students need to either bring a sack lunch that day or they will be able to get one from the cafeteria.
Take Your Child to Work Day
Mrs. Greim sent out information regarding Take Your Child to Work Day in the April LC Scoop. April 24th is the date of this year's Take Your Child to Work Day. If your child will be joining you at work for all or part of that day, you must fill out the attached form and return it to school prior to that day. They will be given a reflective assignment to complete and return to school.
Technology Tidbit
SumDog has become a new favorite website in our classroom! This website offers a variety of educational math games that are perfect for your child. To visit this site at home, go to www.sumdog.com, or access it from the Line Creek website. Your child may then log in using their user name and password that they use to access the site at school. If they've forgotten it, let me know and I'll get it to you.
From the Students' Side
Popsicle Party by Reese and Rhett
Are class earned a popsicle party by being in one of the top three classes that earned the
most money for the Math-a-thon. We ate popsicles outside. It was yummy.
