Halfway There!
If My Student Is Absent, What Is The Best Way To Seek Out Make Up Work?
In order to seek make up work from an absence, a student should first look to see what work is posted in their courses in Schoology, and if they still have questions, please reach out to their teachers via email!
At LMS, We Use Schoology!
Schoology is the Learning Management System being used by SMCPS. Schoology provides students with personalized learning experiences. It allows students to keep resources and school materials available to access online, at any time. It also provides students with the opportunity to engage in their classes no matter where their learning is taking place.
In the 2022-23 school year, Schoology will be used as a teacher's gradebook and will be the one-stop-shop to access assignments and content being taught within the classroom.
Make sure that you've made checking Schoology a part of your daily routine!

This Month's Musical Moment: “Stand Up” from Harriet by Cynthia Erivo
I am obsessed with Cynthia Erivo. I think she is a class act, and when I was thinking of black artists I wanted to highlight this month for the “musical moment”, this song came to mind. Cynthia helped to write this anthem, and recorded it for the film Harriet, which tells the important story of abolitionist Harriet Tubman. The song perfectly captures Tubman’s impressive mission of rescuing enslaved people. Tubman impressively made around 13 very dangerous missions to rescue approximately 70 enslaved people, including family and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. Later in her life, during the American Civil War, Tubman served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army, and in her later years, Tubman was an activist in the movement for women's suffrage.
Erivo who portrayed Tubman in the film, is an impressive star in her own right, being just shy of the Oscar to achieve the “EGOT” award status (she has already earned an Emmy, a Tony award, and a Grammy award for her breakthrough performance as Celie in The Color Purple). But who knows? She may earn that Oscar for her upcoming performance as Elphaba in the film adaptation of Wicked! Side note, my friend Ines Nassara is one of the three back-up singers for Erivo in this video (the shortest woman on the left)! She and I sang in the same voice studio in college, and you can find a somewhat embarrassing Youtube video of us singing a song from another musical here at Towson University.
