University Fair, Wednesday 21 September
The DC University Fair is coming up this Wednesday - you will have seen Brian's email detailing how this event will run. It is a great chance for our students to see what their paths ahead might look like and we have a very large number of HE institutions coming into the school, providing a fantastic range of opportunities.

Forthcoming CPD - Friday 23 and Saturday 24 September
We are really looking forward to having Jayne-Ann Young with us later this week to develop our understanding of Visible Learning. Please note that as part of her preparations for the CPD days she will be in on Thursday and will spend part of her time visiting classrooms across the school. Thanks in anticipation for making her welcome.
The timings for the two CPD days:
Friday: 08.30 - 15.30
Saturday: 08.30 - 15.15
Please observe the timings of the days carefully, remembering in particular that the Saturday is happening in lieu of a weekday which would otherwise be attached to one of our terms so is very much a normal working day.
We will start in G/F Theatre at 8.30 on both days. Other venue information will be published to you via email / on information sheets on the day itself.
A few more details about Saturday in particular:
Jayne-Ann will lead us in a keynote first thing in the morning, looking at the power of evidence-based practices which use data to improve student outcomes.
We will then go into a series of elective sessions, run by DC colleagues, which showcase an example of good practice in the use of data. Please click here to sign up for two of these sessions. There are limited places in each one so it is 'first come first served'. Please do this by 3.20pm on Wednesday 21 September - thereafter we will assign sessions to any colleagues who haven't yet signed up.
On the Saturday afternoon we will move into team planning time - your HoD will lead you in a series of activities which are about planning how we will use evidence to improve student outcomes in the year ahead.
SLT are talking about...
- How we plan to use evidence to inform practice across the school
- Spaces for students at lunchtime
- Swiping in / attendance and punctuality issues
