The benefit of the invention then is that it couldn't mess up the price because the person was manually adding in the numbers. Now, it takes less time because certain things are already programmed in there, so the costumer can pay faster. The cash register used to be a simple machine that counted and stored money. Now, everything is computerized even the cash register.
James Ritty's First Cash Register
It was made in 1879, by James Ritty. He called it the Incorruptable Cashier. It is a gear-operated counting machine.
