But an overloaded schedule with too many activities can have the opposite effect, leaving your child—and you!—stressed. Keep these tips in mind for managing your child’s activity load.

Smithfield Elementary Schools are in the middle of implementing Responsive Classroom (RC). One part of RC, is CARES (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, Self-Control). Throughout the course of the year students will be introduced to and explicitly taught what each looks like and sounds like. LaPerche students add their thoughts about what cooperation looks like and sounds like at LaPerche. Mrs. Dorsey uses an interactive board to gather students' ideas to determine the baseline of understanding.
