School Announcements & Updates
Cafeteria Competition Update from PBIS TEAM
After discussion with the PBIS Representatives for each grade level, we felt it is beneficial to have the assistant who works with your students participate in the extra recess given by them in the cafeteria. If your class wins the extra recess please let your assistant know when you will be taking it. If you can do it when you have your assistant that is great! If not, arrangements can be made so your assistant can be with you. Assistants please let the teacher you would normally be with at this time know you will be spending the ten minutes with another class to be a part of their incentive.
Currently, we are discussing other options for months to come. PBIS Team will be in contact soon for any updates! Thanks for your support!

All students MUST have a yellow pass to the healthroom. Any students that arrive without, will be sent back to class without being seen.

Monthly Celebration
The monthly celebration for this month will be very similar to last month's different rotations of activities. K4 and K5 will be in their classrooms playing "Hot Pumpkin" and creating Pumpkin Mask. 1st-5th will rotate through 3 activities all centered around a fall theme. Supports will be at each activity to explain the rules, procedures and to help support your set of students. Sefcik will email out the schedule Tuesday--it follows the same times as last month.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT GOALS
Class DOJO Goals
As of Monday 10/3/16, we have 254 parents out of our 472 students connected to ClassDOJO which is 54%. Our goal is to have at least 75% of our parents connected by November conferences.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you want to wear jeans EVERY MONDAY this month & Early Release WEDNESDAY pay $20 (Support Staff- $10) to help fight against this awful disease. All money will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Only interested in a couple of Mondays...donate $5 (support staff- $3) for each Monday that you would like to wear jeans. Money can be given to Jen in the main office. Those that donate for the entire month will receive a pink bracelet to wear each Monday! All others will receive a sticker to wear.
$20 bracelet jeans day dates:
October 3 (Mon)
October 12 (Wed)
October 17 (Mon)
October 24 (Mon)
October 31 (Mon)
Here are some facts to think about:
- Each year, more than 200,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and nearly 2,000 cases are diagnosed in men in the U.S.
- One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
- One case of breast cancer is diagnosed among women every two minutes in the U.S.
Show your support by wearing pink on Mondays and consider donating, because everyone deserves a lifetime.
DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
PVAAS Learning
PVAAS e-Learning modules provide professional learning opportunities to support the understanding and use of PVAAS. This year, educators will be able to earn a Certificate of Completion for each module they complete. The certificate will document the educator’s name, title of the module, date and duration of the module. To earn a certificate, educators will need to watch the entire module and complete the Check Your Understanding questions. Educators are strongly encouraged to print or save the certificate upon completion of the module. PVAAS does not archive certificates or data related to completion of modules. The PVAAS Statewide Team and the SAS EVAAS Support Team will NOT be able to access any data about completion. This is the responsibility of the educator. Certificates will become available next month. You will know a certificate is available for a module when you see Certificate of Completion Available after the module title. Please submit copies of certificates to Ashley's mailbox!
24 Math Challenge Learning Opportunity
Several requests have been made to have a 24 Math Challenge learning opportunity for staff new to working with these materials. On Wednesday, November 9th from 3:15-4:15 pm, a representative from First in Math will be available to work with interested staff in B123. Registration is through MyLearningPlan. Content will include building an understanding of the game, types of cards, and organizing 24 Math clubs and practice sessions in preparation for our district competition in late March.
