HPES Parent Update

3/30/2020

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Highland Park Families,

We are so excited to announce the roll out of the remote learning plan! You should have heard from your child's teacher by Friday regarding the format that he or she will use to provide instruction for your child while they are at home. If you did not, please reply to the Highland Park Newsletter email so that we can make sure that information gets to you.

The district has prepared paper based learning packets to support learning for students that do not have adequate technology access. The paper based packets will be available starting Monday, March 30th. Here is a link to the locations where you can pick up paper based learning materials. http://www.pfisd.net/Page/7672 This is also where you can pick up free breakfast and lunch for your child. All PfISD students are eligible. Your child does not need to be present for you to get their free breakfast and lunch. PfISD has provided a remote learning website with links to sites and skills for the kids to work on. The site can be located here.

Your classroom teacher will be your first contact for any instructional support or questions. They are available following the protected time mentioned in Dr. Killan's email: Monday-Thursday 9-12. We will be scheduling campus planning meetings for the afternoons and on Fridays. Please be patient. The staff will respond as quickly as possible but they are figuring out how to work in this new environment, too. They may not be able to reply immediately even during that window, as many parents might be reaching out to them at one time.

Help your neighbors stay informed

We have many email addresses and families that are on this email list, however, if you hear that someone is not receiving my emails or district emails, please send their email address and name to me at lizbeth.ruiz@pfisd.net. Spread the word! The more informed we are, the better!

Warm Regards,

Lizbeth Ruiz

Access Clever at Home

Clever is a portal that PfISD uses for students to access many educational resources.

Go to PfISD.net>student tab>clever. The login is your student’s “s” number and password. Most students have this memorized by this point. If not, reach out to your child's teacher.
