DPS is hosting the second Field Day event (similarly compared to the Special Olympics) on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This event focuses on students with significant cognitive disabilities as an opportunity to promote physical health and wellness, social relationships, and friendships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled peers. We are aiming to provide a quality field day event full of games, activities, and fun for all of our students and their buddies.
In order to have a successful event, we rely on community partners to support this event through volunteerism. If you would be interested in volunteering for this event, please complete the attached form no later than February 28, 2023.

Bonner theater students make prop food
This week, Ms. Gilbert's Theatre Arts 1 students at Bonner took on the role as Prop Designers and create their own prop food out of paper mache, using toilet paper and water. A "prop" in theatre is an object used on stage or screen by actors during a performance. These prop foods are almost stage ready, and can be used in a variety of scenes involving food, without the mess of real food. Students created a meal or snack of their choice, and now are working on painting them. Some of the food items include grilled cheese, spaghetti, red velvet cake, pancakes, fried chicken, pizza, lasagna and more!
Seasons & Senses at Gibson
This month, Gibson students have been working on exploring their senses and the weather. They’ve made a few crafts to explore texture (watercolor salt rainbows) and ways we see light differently (sun catchers). They’ve also worked on sequencing steps to make snowmen, smelly bears, and on Thursday, mosaic suns!
