RNNE Team and Family Launcher
Goal-oriented and intentional.Intervention.Authentic Team.
Maladjusted.
You are ALL making amazing strides in tightening our instruction so that we be see the most growth and mastery from our Rocketeers. This is all a result of you being anchored in this work by passion, an urgency to see your students succeed and beat odds as well as being driven by love.
It all clearly shows in deep level you're planning your lessons, engaging with students during your instruction to push their thinking and respond to errors as well as continue to show them unconditional love when they make behavioral mistakes. You are all truly angles of education and deserve a special set of angel wings for the work that you all do to engage, invoke and love our babies each day!
Know that you are all loved, appreciated and believed in. These next few weeks will be stressful, busy and seem like time is winding down quickly (which brings on pressure) - take a deep breath, know that you were called for this work and own that you have the power to impact our students and families.
Love you all always,
Christa

Let's remain maladjusted.
Focus Areas
Targeted Teaching Time
Lesson Planning Trends
- Exemplar Responses included in lesson plans
- Sticky key points concretely written out
- Oral Drills/key points review included in lesson plans
- A variety of types of talk included in lessons - increasing the participation ratio!
Focus:
"Plan for Error" - read through the chapter from Teach Like a Champion 2.0 about the importance of planning for possible misconceptions and student errors that could reveal themselves during your lesson. Pre-planning and identifying these errors 1) tightens the feedback loop for students so that they are academically growing faster and 2) helps to deepen your content knowledge of the standard and specific objective. Knowing the misconceptions ahead of time will also make your analysis of who is
- Choose at least 1 question to focus on from your lesson (the We Do, You Do, questions identified for IP Review, etc.) for each day.
- Plan out two possible misconceptions/errors that could reveal themselves.
- Plan out 1-2 responses to the misconceptions (use key points, prompts from STEP prompting guides, etc.)
*This is all also included in the Targeted Teaching template above.
Upcoming Events - Next Week
Wednesday - RNNE Spring Dinner (6-8:30pm)
Thursday - School Walkthrough with Fred Ferrer - Rocketship Board of Directors
Friday - Teacher Interview Day at RNNE + Rising Leader PD (NSH + MKE Rising Leaders) at RNNE
*Randy Dowell, KIPP Nashville Executive Director will be visiting campus at some point this week.
Progress Reports
We will set aside 2:15-3:30pm next Thursday for all grade levels to have time to begin printing progress reports and align as a grade level. We will have a hard stop at 3:30pm because the President of the Rocketship Board of Directors will be here to provide a session on parent/family engagement to both RNNE and RUA teachers. You can certainly begin printing progress reports earlier that day, but we wanted to set aside a time block for you all as well.
For students who are struggling in a particular area (students not showing adequate growth, students reversing in their growth, high absence/tardies, behavior, etc.), it would be effective to hold a parent teacher conference to meet face-to-face with parents/families. Maximize this opportunity to problem-solve with families.
- Students who have shown limited/no academic growth so far this year, should have their progress report accompanied by a face-to-face conference or phone call providing families with concrete at-home strategies to support learning.
Spring Dinner
See the calendar invite (with the address of the location included) that April sent out yesterday.
Please RSVP so that you can be included in the reservation count.
Real Men Read
Our goal is to have 75 men volunteer to come in to our classrooms and spend the morning (about an hour) reading to and with our students. The more men that we have, the smaller the groups can be in classrooms which means more direct contact with our volunteers who will be representing a diversity in background, experiences and careers.
This will be an exciting day! As we get closer to the event, you'll receive more details from our Staff Communication arm of the planning committee (Ms. Barr and Ms. Bing) on specific details for classrooms.
How can I help out with this event? So glad you asked! We would love for you to spread the word to any males in your personal and professional networks to have them commit to being one of our readers! We want them here with us on May 27th! Please see the flyer, created by Ms. Barr, below for details to share with your male connections. We want them all - your father, brother, uncle, friend, male church members, fraternities, businesses, groups, etc!
We want to actualize our goal of having 75 amazing male volunteers in our building on this day!
If you'd like to join the planning committee for this event, please plan to join us in our next meeting on April 21st (4:30-5:30p) in room 212.
RNNE Assessment + Event Calendars
Be sure to reference this calendar for events that are coming up so that you aren't caught off guard!
Note: Minimum Days for Parent/Teacher Conferences the last three days of school.
Here is the assessment calendar for the year for you to reference. *We are looking at adjusting the STEP assessment window, so will follow up with more details (the adjustment would allow for more weeks of instruction before the window begins versus starting earlier).
