Great Start to the New School Year

Our first few days have been great with students doing an absolutely amazing job. The transition back to school after summer break is always challenging, so sharing how impressed we are with their readiness is an absolute privilege.

Back to School Night

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to Jackson Avenue's Back to School Night on September 1st. Our time frame is expanding slightly from 5:30-6:30 to 5:30-6:45 in order to allow time for me to introduce our teaching staff and speak to parents in our Multi-Purpose Room in between our TK-2 and 3-5 grade presentations in the classrooms.

Classroom presentations are designed to help families learn about what their children will be learning, classroom expectations, fun activities, and general information impacting you and your child.

Our schedule is as follows for Sept 1st:

TK-2 grade classroom presentations from 5:30-5:55 in your child's classroom.

Teacher introductions and principal message 6:00-6:15 in our Multi-Purpose Building.

3-5 grade classroom presentations from 6:20-6:45 in your child's classroom.

After a long day of teaching and presenting, our teachers will then head home for some well-deserved down time before wrapping up the week Friday.

We look forward to seeing you and working with you this year and all those to come.

AVID

We are an AVID (Advancement Via Individualized Determination) school and we are implementing strategies and practices, school-wide, to empower all students to become stronger learners. We do this by focusing on organization, note-taking, goal setting, and new this year: inquiry. We are excited to be partners with Arroyo Seco, East Ave, Christensen, and Livermore High School, as fellow AVID schools. Together we will give our students the skills they need to be and do anything they set their heart on.

Dreambox

Your children are accessing Dreambox regularly during the school day to improve their skills and knowledge in math. We anticipate great growth and learning through this online program, which is supported by our District at all school sites. The best part of the game-based program is it adapts to students and their needs. Teachers are also able to assign lessons in alignment with their current Investigations3 math unit. Looking forward to seeing our mathematicians improve their skills.

Have a wonderful rest of your week and month of September!

Together We Are Stronger!
