FAE Parent Update - September 2022

What Parents Need to Know Vol 2.5 Ed. 4

We are on a journey…

Happy Fall, Panther Families!

Next Wednesday, October 5th marks the end of a successful 1st 9wks. Soon you will see a banner affixed to our building that announces that Forest Acres is a Leader in Me School! As we rolled out our new vision and mission this year, we are equally excited to begin our journey as a LIM school!

“We only have one chance to prepare students for a world that none of us could possibly predict.” — Muriel Summers

FranklinCovey is partnering with our school to implement the key paradigms (mindset shifts) and practices of The Leader in Me through professional development, coaching, and resources in the first three years. We want our community to know that this opportunity will begin with administration and faculty first. Our staff will have access to resources and coaching to sustain our efforts toward continuous improvement.

The Leader in Me is a whole school transformation process. It teaches 21st century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. We need parental and community support on this journey!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to these gentleman for earning a PERFECT Score on our state’s end of year assessment. This is yet another major milestone for Forest Acres! Last year we had one student achieve this recognition, Celia Buckheister. This year we tripled that number! We hope that the success of peer accomplishments will continue to inspire other students that they can do it too! FAE Administrators and grade level teachers got to enjoy lunch with these students and their families!

We are PANTHER Proud!

Capturing Kindness

Officer Morgan, School Resource Officers (SRO) has been on the lookout for students "Doing the Right Thing even when they think No One is Watching!" He has been rewarding students with tokens of appreciation from the Easley Police Department.

Help with the creation of a keyboard station at FAE! By supporting our music program's current DonorsChoose project, your donation will go towards the purchase of 12 Yamaha keyboards for the music classroom. Students will have the opportunity to not only learn piano for 9-weeks but will embrace and showcase creativity, composition, and camaraderie in the process. With your support, we can make kids and keyboards the perfect combination!
