Mr. Mauck's Musings
The last full week in August is behind us and bright opportunities are on the horizon. The student's have been amazing and this week is setting the tone for the whole year. I need to begin the newsletter by asking each of you to read the letter to parents I have attached below. I wanted to take some time to dispel rumors that have been lurking online.
Homecoming nominations were held this week and the student body will be voting this week for homecoming court representatives. JHS yearbooks sales have been extended for one week. Please use the link below to order your 2023 yearbooks and take advantage of the early-bird savings.
On October 12 there will be an opportunity for all of our Juniors and any Senior who wishes to take the SAT hosted at JHS. The cost is $60 and the test will be administered during school. I would encourage Junior parents to consider taking this test as a practice for the spring test that is mandated by the State of Indiana for graduation. On October 12th students will have the opportunity to participate in a few different activities. The activities as listed by grade:
Seniors- SAT, College visit, Community Service, or Job Shadow(sign up in guidance office)
Juniors- PSAT, SAT, or ASVAB (sign up in the guidance office)Sophomores- PSAT (no sign up required)
Freshmen- Tour of Opportunity (student will sign up for this event next week)
We have a few house keeping notes about parking and dress codes. On Tuesday and Thursday this week Seniors and Juniors were given opportunities to purchase parking permits. A parking permit is required so students may drive and park at school. Sophomores will be able to purchase theirs on Tuesday next week. The cost is $25 and the permit is good for the year. During registration parents consented to allow their students to drive to school but no permits were able to be purchased at that time. Please make sure your student has a parking permit if they are driving to school. Secondly, I wanted to remind students and parents that hoods, hats and shirts revealing the midriff are not appropriate dress for school.
JHS is hosting the Dubois County Health Department's shot clinic. There is information and registration papers below. In the community, Bosco will be hosting a blood drive, the Jasper Police Department has a Community Safety Day scheduled and we have included information about voting in Dubois County courtesy of the Dubois County Clerk.
Finally, School Fees have not been assessed and balances indicated in My School Bucks will not be accurate until after Labor Day. You will receive an invoice in the mail.
