Math PLC
A PLC Focused on Supporting Struggling Learners in Math
Please join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's TaC Team in this year-long, virtual PLC where participants will network with educators across Allegheny County to support students struggling in mathematics.
Intended Audience: K-5 General/Special Education Teachers, Special Education Liaisons, Paraeducators, Interventionists/Coaches, Building Principals, & Curriculum Directors
Registration and Session Information
- All sessions are virtual (Zoom links provided)
- Participants may choose any and/or all sessions in the series to attend (please register for each individual session you choose)
- Seven (7) Act 48 credits will be available upon completion of series
- Partial credit is available per session
Session 1: The Use of Instructional Routines in Math Class
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will explore effective evidence-based practices that can help support students struggling in math class.

Session 2: Analysis of Universal Screening Data
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will analysis Universal Screening data from their class or school to determine focus areas to target for instructional decision making.
Registration Deadline: October 5, 2022
Session 3: Class-wide Interventions
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will explore the importance of class-wide interventions and explore some options to consider implementing to address student needs.

Session 4: Use of Diagnostic Assessment in Math Classroom
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will utilize assessment data to determine student needs in advanced tiers.
Registration Deadline: December 7, 2022
Session 5: Decision Trees
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will work on generating decision trees that outline the support system for students.
Registration Deadline: February 8, 2023
Session 6: Making the Most of the Math Block
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will focus on the effective utilization of instructional minutes to meet student needs.
Registration Deadline: March 8, 2023
Session 7: Piecing It All Together
Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Overview: Participants will work on integrating strategies into their next year of instruction.
Registration Deadline: May 10, 2023
