National School Lunch Week
National School Lunch Week (NSLW) has been celebrated for more than 50 years! It is a week long celebration filled with events and activities designed to promote the benefits of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP).
To celebrate the healthy lunch choices in Virginia Beach City Public Schools, our school will promote National School Lunch Week: October 9-13, 2017. This year's them "School Lunch: Recipe for Success" was designed to help us tell our school lunch story, and highlight the ingredients that make our school lunch menus special. From local food and farmers to salad bars to behind-the-scenes teamwork that makes every tray of food possible.
Students and parent participation is essential for the success of any school lunch program. Therefore, it is our desire that your children will choose to eat school lunches-not just during this special week of observance, but everyday. Not only will the lunch program assist them with fulfilling a nutritional need; it may also offer you the luxury of a little more time by not having to prepare their lunch.
Join us in celebrating NSLW by having lunch with your child! Adult items are priced a la carte. Please watch for a reservation request form to be sent home in your child's Thursday folder. If you can come, please return your reservation by Monday, October 2, 2017. We hope to see you there!

Watch D.O.G.S. Program
The PTA will be launching the Watch D.O.G.S.
(Dads of Great Students) program in January.
What are the goals of a Watch D.O.G.S. program?
1. To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important.
2. To provide extra sets of eyes and ear to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
Who are Watch D.O.G.S and how does Watch D.O.G.S. work?
Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each year at an official Watch D.O.G.s. school.
What do Watch D.O.G.S. do (while they at school)?
During the day, Watch D.O.G.S. may read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, patrol the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well.
