Week 8
Term 3

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia Ora,
We are now into Week 8 of Term 3 and the weather is really starting to feel like Spring!
Since our last newsletter, there have been all sorts of activity happening around the school.
We had a fantastic turn out to our school Open Evening. A huge thanks to our students and staff involved with making this happen. It was a long day/ evening but had great feedback from those in attendance. If you have a friend or family member looking to enrol with us, please encourage them to get their application in soon.
We had a successful Daffodil Mufti Day last Friday. Our learners looked fantastic dressed in yellow and they had a great time planting daffodils for next spring and making kindess cards. Money raised went to the Cancer Society.
Our AIMS teams are away at the annual tournament. We have had some great results come through so far. All the best to our learners competing this week in Tauranga.

We ran our Open Evening a little differently this year, and we have to say it was a massive success! It's been heartwarming to hear such positive feedback from the community about our special night.
Teachers and staff alike had been working hard for weeks preparing to welcome prospective students and their families to our kura. When guests arrived, they were welcomed by our fabulous kapa haka learners. They then met their student tour guides, who would be with them throughout the evening. The first stop was Muriwhenua, which was set up with a variety of displays including uniforms, enrolments and healthy lunches. They then went on a tour right through the school, stopping in different classrooms to learn about all the exciting opportunities we offer. The tour finished in the library, which was set up with extra curricular displays (music, sport and performing arts). We even had our rock band set up, to play our guests out as they left!
Thank you to everyone who came along on Tuesday night. We hope you enjoy the below pictures. If you have any questions about enrolling for 2024, please check out our school website or contact the office enrol@tamateaint.ac.nz .

The first day of Spring was a bright one here at Tamatea Intermediate! Not only was it a stunning day, we also celebrated Daffodil Day. The staff and learners really outdid themselves with their yellow this year! We raised $313 for the Cancer Society, which is what it's all about.
We also held a PB4L fundraiser, where learners could purchase ice cream sundaes with toppings and sauces.
Congratulations to Carter, Fletcher and Liam for coming 4th place at the recent Hawke's Bay Regional Final of the Bandquest held at the Toitoi Hawke's Bay Arts and Events Centre in Hastings.
The boys' band (Black Sea) competed amongst 14 other Primary and Intermediate school bands in the Hawke's Bay.
A huge congrats to Carter for also receiving the 'Best Drummer' award.

How Does My Child Fundraise?
Firstly, go to schoolfunrun.co.nz and create a student profile page. Everything to do with your fundraising revolves around this page. Students who raise just $10 will be able to choose a prize! All fundraising is done online and we have educated students on the dangers of door knocking without adult supervision. We encourage you to reiterate this at home. The great thing about online fundraising is that you can share the link to your child’s profile with friends and family via email, text and social media. Please note that we do not accept cash, all fundraising must be done online.
Getting Involved
Not only can you support the school and students with your sponsorship– You can also join in on the fun! We welcome parents and family members to attend the School Color Run. If you would like to volunteer on the day, please email danie.leonard@tamateaint.ac.nz. We look forward to seeing you there!
Ordering Prizes – ALL PRIZES MUST BE ORDERED ONLINE
Prizes MUST be ordered between the 22 September 2023 and 13 October 2023. Simply visit schoolfunrun.co.nz to log into your Profile Page between these dates. The Taradale Bridge Club is running a "Learn to Play Bridge" holiday activity for Intermediate and Secondary students on the 25th-29th September. You may be aware that Alice Dravitzki, a Napier Girls' High School student, was selected to go to the 2023 Under 21 World Junior Bridge Championships held in the Netherlands. Alice did very well and we thought it was a good time to introduce younger people to the game.
