Getting Started in Kindergarten Week 4

This week we are wrapping up our first Unit of Study with a read aloud book called Kindergarten Rocks! We will make some text to self connections and learn about basic story elements. We will be using the sight words that have been introduced and letter sounds to write about school. This week's focus letter sounds are: m, n, w & h. Our sight words are: to & am. The vocabulary words are: friend & cooperation. In math we are working on Topic 2 Comparing and Ordering Numbers 0 to 5. This includes counting groups, writing a numeral to show how many in a group, counting and using one to one correspondence and making groups by adding one or two more.

Please login to your child's math account for math games and practice.

Choose: “sign in”
username: student’s first name and last name (lower case, no spaces) and the last 3 digits of their student id # (lunch number). Example: amygibson456

Remember to send a fresh fruit or vegetable each day for snack time.

W.I.N. Time

This week your kinder kiddo may come home talking about WIN Time. During WIN time students either meet in small groups to strengthen foundational reading skills or work on continued practice and enrichment. Presently, we are working on strengthening letter/sound knowledge. Any letter/sound or reading practice you can do at home will improve your child's progress.

This is what WIN time looks like in our classroom!
