If you haven't registered for your SAT or ACT yet, please do so! We recommend that you take these college entrance exams in the Spring of your Junior year. Sign up online with a credit card at www.collegeboard.org or www.actstudent.org! See Ms. Alexander, our ACCESS Advisor, in Guidance if you'd like to fill out a fee waiver form to possibly take these tests for free.

Norfolk State University Roundup
When: Thursday, April 3, 2014; 4-6pm
Where: NSU, Student Services Center, Room 205
What: NSU Roundup is designed to give prospective students an on-site admissions decision. Please bring an official copy of your transcript in a sealed envelope, SAT or ACT scores and two letters of recommendation. You will meet individually with an admissions counselor and an admissions decision for Fall 2014 will be given on the same day. For attending this featured event, the $45 application fee will be waived.

Richard J. Schlimgen Memorial Scholarship- Applicant must be a graduating senior of the Va Beach City Public Schools in the current school year; have at least one year of attendance at the Va Beach High School Leadership Workshop sponsored by the Va Beach City Public Schools Student Activities Office each summer; submit a copy of your academic transcript; three letters of recommendation from adults associated with the school or school system, those adults may not be related to you; and be accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning and agree to be a full time student at that institution. George Versprille Scholarship- Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher; have an athletic letter for two years in any of the two following sports - cross country, indoor track, or outdoor track; be accepted to a college or university; write a written statement explaining why track was important to your development as a student athlete; submit a letter of recommendation from your coach, from a teacher, and from a counselor or an administrator; and submit a copy of your current transcript. Virginia Institute for Sports Medicine Scholarship- Applicant must have attended a minimum of one sports medicine seminar or workshop, transcript, completed application, two letters of recommendation with at least one from the sponsoring certified athletic trainer, essay, acceptance to an accredited college, graduating senior of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools, taken part in student athletic training program, demonstrated a sincere interest in academic achievement, must be recognized leader within the school community by demonstrating responsibility, organization and dignity, exemplified integrity, sincerity, reliability and respect for authority. Wing's Over America Scholarship- Provides College Scholarships to dependent children and spouses of navy personnel from the US Navy's Aviation community; Officer and Enlisted, active duty, retired, honorably discharged or deceased. Applicants may be High School seniors or already enrolled in college. Service member sponsor must have served in Naval Aviation and or Subordinate Commands. Most awards are for one year, but the applicant can apply multiple years. See Scholarship Central for the application. Deadline is April 1st.
Virginia Grain Producers Association Scholarship- Applicants must be a current or future full-time students, as of Fall 2014, at a Virginia institution of higher education. Applicants must be closely associated with members of the Virginia Grain Producers Association, including - members or dependents of a member in good standing of the VGPA, or an active employee or dependent of an active employee, employed at least one year, by a member in good standing of the VGPA. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - Nettie D. Faulcon Scholarship- Applicants must be an African-American female graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better; be an entering freshman enrolling in a math, science or technology based curriculum at an accredited college or university; be a resident of Chesapeake or Va. Beach, VA; and submit two letters of recommendation. See Scholarship Central for the application. Deadline is April 1st.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - Allen-Skinner Scholarship- Applicants must be a African American female graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; be an entering freshman at any Historically Black Institution; a resident of Chesapeake or Va. Beach, VA; be evaluated on scholastic merit and or financial need; and submit two letters of recommendation. See Scholarship Central for the application. Deadline is April 1st.
American Helicopter Society Scholarship- Seniors who wish to pursue a career in STEM fields (engineering, physics, math, science). Please see http://www.ahs-hrc.org for more details and the application. Deadline is April 1st.
Jarrod Camper Smith Memorial Scholarship- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior; active member of a varsity high school soccer team; lettered in soccer at the high school varsity level; accepted to an accredited college or university; played select travel soccer; and complete the requirements as set forth on the application. Torch of Freedom- Virginia Beach Republican Women’s Club Scholarship- Applicant and parents must be citizens of the United States; be a graduating senior from a Va Beach Public High School; have a final GPA of 3.0 or higher; and must be accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning and agree to be a full-time student at that institution. **Virginia Beach Local Council of PTAs Scholarship- Applicants must be a graduating senior within Virginia Beach Public Schools; have a GPA of at least 3.0, with the exception of the vocational scholarship; be a member of the school's PTSA and include supporting documentation such as a copy of the membership card; be planning to attend a university, college, or vocational institute in the fall of 2014; submit a copy of your high school transcript and two teacher recommendations; and must include a typed essay of at least 400 words stating why you should be the recipient of the council's scholarship. VESA Scholarship- Applicants must be enrolled in an ESL program for at least one year in grades 6-12; enrolled in 12th grade at the time of application; have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA; and have financial need. Please send a copy of ALL high school trancripts and two letters of recommendation from teachers, school counselor and or principal at the school in which student is enrolled. Jack E. O'Connor Scholarship - Tidewater Chapter of Credit Unions- Applicants must be a member of a credit union in the Tidewater Chapter of Credit Unions. To be a member you must have an account in your name and not a joint member with someone else. If you are not sure if your credit union is a member, please ask them prior to filling out this application. Only completed applications will be considered. A completed application includes - transcripts, tax return from 1040 from 2013; and application form pages 1 through 3 filled out completely and signed. See Scholarship Central for more details. Sentara Princess Anne Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship- Applicant must be a graduating senior from a Va Beach City Public high school; must be attending a Virginia College or University; must be entering the Healthcare field as a major area of study; have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or better; submit a copy of transcript of high school grades; and three letters of recommendation from your guidance counselor, a personal reference, and a present or former teacher. Bartley E. Tuthill Memorial Scholarship- Applicants must be a resident of Va Beach and a full time student enrolled in or have been accepted to a college undergraduate level curriculum; provide documentation of their high school class ranking and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher or appropriate equivalent of individaual scholastic achievement; demonstrated an active interest in agriculture and or natural resource conservation - environmental protection; submit most recent official high school or college transcript; copy of the acceptance letter from the college; and three letters of reference. Attach an essay, approximately 250 words. See Scholarship Central for more details. Deadline is April 14th.
AAA Tidewater Virginia- J. Theron Tim Timmons Scholarship- Graduating high school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of AAA Tidewater Virginia; other requirements include a minimum GPA of 3.0, two letters of recommendation, a copy of the applicant's high school transcript with SAT score verification, and an essay on How You Plan to Use Your Education. AFCEA Hampton Roads STEM Scholarships- Applicants must be U.S. citizens; a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate; be accepted for enrollment during the 2014-2015 academic year in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university; course of study must lead to a Bachelor degree in one of the Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics disciplines; must have a 200-250 word applicant's Personal Statement written out; and submit an official transcript reflecting academic performance for a minimum of the two most recently completed academic years. Nell C.W. Scholarships - Kempsville Woman's Club- Applicants must be a graduating senior attending a Virginia Beach Cox high school student who shall be of good character and scholastic achievement with a minimum GPA of 3.00 or better. In selecting the recipient, equal weight shall be given to scholastic achievement and financial need as well as extracurricular activities. See Scholarship Central for more details. Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union- Applicants must be a member, joint owner status does not qualify, of Beach Municipal Federal Credit Union for not less than six months prior to the date of application. Applicants may fall into one of two categories, be a graduating senior, or equivalent, that has been accepted to and will attend an accredited college, university, or trade school after graduation OR be currently enrolled undergraduate student in good standing of an accredited college, university or trade school. Hampton Road Black Media Professionals' Journalism - Media Scholarship- Applicants must be a afrifcan-americah high school senior who dedicated to inspiring students to pursue college and media-related careers and intends to pursue journalism or media-related studies in college. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher - high school transcript must be provided. Please see the attached for all the criteria's. See Scholarship Central for more details. Hampton Roads Black Media Professionals' Cheryl Ross and John Robinson Promise Scholarship- Applicants must be a african-american high school senior who will enroll in college this coming school year. This award is open to students pursuing any course of college studies, and is not limited to journalism studies. We request your GPA, but there is no GPA requirement. This scholarship is for a student who is passionate about attending college. See Scholarship Central for more details. Deadline is April 15th.
Chartway Federal Credit Union Directors' Memorial Scholarship Program- Scholarship applications are open to all Chartway, HeritageWest, and SouthWest Community members who are graduating high school seniors, currently enrolled college students or those returning to complete their degree at a college or graduate school. Each applicant must have their own account or be the joint owner of an account prior to submission. The account must be in good standing by April 18, 2014. An account in good standing means owning at least one share of the credit union. Please get application at http://chartway.com/promotions. See Scholarship Central for more details. Cape Henry Woman's Club - Marion Steinhilber Education Scholarship- Applicants must be a graduate of a Va Beach High School planning to attend a college or university in Virginia; have a scholastic standing of 3.0 or above; submit a 200 word essay stating your educational objectives; a list of your acitivities in high school including honors, awards, and elected positions; a list of your community acitivities, volunteering and hobbies; two letters of recommendation from - teacher, counselor, church, or community; and your high school transcript. Mike McGreevy Memorial Scholarship- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher; have a Varsity letter or its equivalent in one or more sport; be pursuing a career involving some type of service - military services, law enforcement, education, medicine, social work, counseling, etc.; and must demonstrate the following personality traits reminiscent of Mike McGreevy -Integrity, Humility, Genuine Kindness, Determination, and Perseverance. Norfolk Sports Club Scholarship- Applicants must have lettered in at least one sport, cheerleaders qualify; graduate with a C average or better; demonstrate financial need; and attend college or university within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Pages 1 and 2 of your parents' 2013 income tax return, copies of your transcript, and a letter of recommendation must be included. See Scholarship Central for the application. Deadline is April 18th.

**Salem HS PTSA Scholarship- Student must be a senior with a 2.0 GPA or above who is a current member of the Salem High School PTSA. Must enter an accredited college, university, or technical school as a full-time student in the Fall of 2014. Kendra Ruestow Atherton Memorial Scholarship- Applicants must be a senior enrolled in a public or private high school in the Southside Hampton Roads cities; be accepted to an undergraduate curriculum at a 2 or 4 year college or university as a full time student and have proof of that accceptance; have lost a parent or legal guardian to cancer; show interest in their pursuit of personal excellence; show interest in service and compassion for others; submit their resume along with two letters of recommendation; submit an essay; agree to a face-to-face interview; and submit to any and all verification procedures that the committee deems necessary. The Virginia Beach Optimist Club College Scholarship Program- Scholarships will be awarded to student planning to attend Bryant and Stratton College. Student contestants and winners will be selected by their high school counselors, coaches, and teachers on Optimist-based standards of good character and citizenship. Contestants must meet academic entry criteria for acceptances as a student at Bryant and Stratton College. There is no age criterion other than being a student in good standing at a Virginia Beach area high school. Individual high school contestant selection and judging will be based on each contestant's individual Optimist Scholarship Contest Entry Form. There is no contest entry fee. Virginia Beach School Nurse Association- Applicant must be a senior in Virginia Beach Public School System attending a four year college full time in fall 2014 with anticipated course of study in professional nursing; copy of high school transcript and activity sheet; two letters of recommendation; 500-600 word essay on why you are interested in the nursing profession; and an acceptance letter from the college. Virginia Beach City Union of the King’s Daughters and Sons Scholarship- Applicants must be a graduating senior interested in a career in a health-related field and we are looking for Christian students that have completed community service and have participated in school activities and organizations. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. See Scholarship Central for more details. Deadline is April 30th.
Back Bay Restoration-Bob Aaron Memorial Scholarship- Applicants must be a graduating senior from a public high school; have at least a 3.0 GPA; been accepted to an accredited college; and demonstrated interest in the environment and fishing. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, at least one must be academic, and write an essay. Suggested Essay Topic - please tell us about your passion for protecting the environment and for your love for fishing. See Scholarship Central for more details. Deadline is April 30th.
Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program- Applicants must be a graduating VB senior accepted to a college undergraduate level curriculum; have a 3.0 GPA or greater or appropriate equivalent of individual scholastic achievement; and submit an essay between 1000 and 1500 words on one of Edgar Cayce's guiding principles in life for each and every individual - Make the world a better place for your having lived in it. Use of the Cayce material is encouraged but not required. This scholarship is open to all eligible Va Beach graduating seniors with the exception of Edgar Cayce organization staff, volunteers, and or family members. See Scholarship Central for more details. Bayside Lions Scholarship- Scholarship applications to support college tuition at either a two-year or four-year institution of higher education will be accepted from a graduating senior of a Va Beach high school who is a permanent resident of the 23455 zip code area. The student must show academic ability, extracurricular interests and have strong recommendations from references. selection will be based on academic achievement and financial need. Back Bay Amateur Astronomers Scholarship- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior who has demonstrated an avid interest in astronomy; must reside in Va Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton or Newport News; plan to attend an accredited two or four year college or university; GPA of 3.0 or higher; SAT score of at least 1650 or an ACT score of at least 26; and submit a high school transcript. Jill Brickner-Gwaltney Memorial Scholarship- Applicants must be a Va Beach City Public Schools graduating senior majoring in English who has been accepted by an accredited college; and have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5. **The Roupas-Melatti Scholarship- Applicants must be a graduating senior who has completed the coursework and the programmatic requirements in the Visual & Performing Arts Academy at Salem High School and has been accepted by an accredited college or university. **Salem High School Athletic Booster Club Scholarship- Applicants must be a Salem High School senior whose family are members of the Salem High School Athletic Booster Club by March 7, 2014; attach a 500 word typed essay; and submit a letter of recommendation from a faculty or staff member.
