Week of February 1st - February 5th, 2021
This Week at Academy of St. Benedict
This week we celebrate Catholic Schools Week and the things that make the Academy of St. Benedict the African special. Let me first say, that begins with our families! The support each of you gives the school and your child/ren is top-notch. We look forward to the time we can safely welcome all of you physically back into the building to celebrate our parents. Until then, we will do it virtually!
We have some fun activities planned for the students and staff this week! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and our Instagram feed!
As a reminder school opens for morning care at 6:15 AM. The doors open for students at 7:30 AM. Breakfast will be available until 7:50. Classes start promptly at 8. Students must be in class at 8 AM. Tardiness disrupts the entire class. Tardiness was an issue this past week. Students must be in school and on-time. Please help us improve our on-time attendance rate!
As a reminder, any person who is on our property must have their mask on properly (up over the nose) as we work to keep everyone safe.
Students are continuing to complete the iReady winter diagnostic tests. For those students who are taking it at home, please do not help. Remind your child to do their best and eliminate choices when they're stuck. Getting a good picture of student progress is needed as we make plans moving forward.
It's time to begin registration for the 2021-2022 school year. It will open for our current families, in good financial standing, on February 1st. The first step will be to complete the registration Google form and pay the $50 fee (toward the registration fee). Please click the link here. After the form is complete and the deposit is paid, we will contact families to review financial plans and other information. On February 8th, we will open registration to new families. There are limited seats available. Be sure to reserve your child's seat!
Today is the last full day of the popcorn fundraiser! It ends at 6 AM on Monday morning! There's still time to set up your store and send the link to your family and friends! See the flyer below!
There is a pizza day scheduled for February 5th as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Orders have been placed and no late payments are accepted. Students who didn't purchase last week may bring $8 on Friday, and if there are extras, potentially purchase pizza then.
Families may not go back and forth between e-learning and in-person learning. If your child is an in-person learner and is absent for a day or two, they may not move over to elearning. They will be marked absent. However, if the child is sick for an extended period of time, we will make individual arrangements as necessary. Please contact me if you have questions about that policy. As stated, February 22nd is the next time elearners may return to in-person instruction for the year. If you choose to have your child/ren stay elearning at that point, they will continue it through the end of the school year.
The school office is open from 6:30 AM to 4 PM. Please call the office to make an appointment before stopping in.
If you need help with your tuition plan, there are a few options. All begin with a phone call or email to Ms. Murphy or to me. From there, we can set up an income tax agreement. Many families will be receiving a refund at tax time after filing their FY20 taxes. Another option for some families may be using some of your Federal stimulus money. We certainly understand and respect that either of these may not work for your family. The most important thing is that you contact us so that 1. we know there's a problem and 2. we can develop a plan with you.
Exclusion letters were sent to all families with past due balances. If a plan wasn't made, we will have to exclude students until we can speak with you. Please know that this isn't something we do lightly, but the financial health of the school has to be a priority.
We value you and your family. These unprecedented times are challenging for everyone.
