WHO- Asoka is the third emperer in the Maurya dynasty, he is known as Indias greatest ruler. He was a combonation of a saint and a ruler. In his buddha religion, he is second to Buddha.
WHAT- The most important events that happened in his life are; By 300 B.C. he ruled almost all of india only the south was uncontrolled by Mauryan. In 269 the epic war raged, Asokas people killed 100,000 people and captured over 150,000. This tramatized the king and he converted to Buddhist law. He gave up hunting and the use of meat in the royal kitchen.
WHEN and WHERE- Asoka was born in 300 B.C in India and died in 238? B.C.He came to the Mauryan dynasty throne in 273 B.C. but a disputed succession delayed his coronation until 269 B.C.
WHY- Asoka is important to history because he is called the greatest emperor of India. He tolorated other peoples religion, and everyone loved him for that.
