A Message from Principal Jackson

Hello Miner Families,

I hope that everyone is doing great and staying safe! We miss you all so very much!

It was great seeing so many of our Mighty Bears during virtual recess today! It just continues to remind us both how much we miss them and how critical it is that we all follow social distancing guidelines and remain safe so we can see them again so very soon.

While the summer is just beginning we are well on our way to finish our staffing for next year. The personnel committee has been working very hard to interview candidates and extend offers. We are beginning to interview candidates for the Assistant Principal position and I am very confident that we have some very strong candidates to consider.

As soon as we finish hiring we are going to finalize rosters! We plan to send out information about class lists in mid to late July so stay tuned!

Aftercare enrollment has finally been announced! Be sure to mark the date - July 27th - on your calendar! The link for registration is below in the announcements.

DCPS Schools remain closed to normal business at this time and teachers are on leave starting this week so if you need anything from the school, here are the best contacts to use:

Enrollment: MinerESEnroll@k12.dc.gov

Principal Jackson - bruce.jackson@k12.dc.gov

Ms. Offor - uchenna.offor@k12.dc.gov

Stay safe and let the school know if we can be of any assistance.

Respectfully,

Principal Jackson

Miner Mutual Aid Action Team

Miner Mutual Aid Network Update

The Miner Equity Committee Mutual Aid Action Team is pleased to report a new partnership with the Ward 6 Mutual Aid Network and non-profit Serve Your City to provide additional support to our community. The partnership has already resulted in several Miner families receiving support in the form of food, household items and COVID-19 protective supplies.

This new partnership will help ensure the Miner Mutual Aid Network can fulfill support requests more efficiently. While the Miner Mutual Aid Network is still accepting financial donations, we are also encouraging our community to support the Ward 6 Mutual Aid Network and Serve Your City.

Community Table

The Miner Mutual Aid Network is working with Serve Your City to plan a community table event in July. The event will take place at Miner and provide the Miner and greater Rosedale community with the opportunity to pick up food and supplies. We will announce a date for the event soon. If you are interested in volunteering to assist with the event, please email minermutualaid@gmail.com with the subject Volunteer.

Supporting One Another

Mutual Aid is not a one-way transaction and we encourage everyone to consider how they may be able to support our community throughout the current pandemic and beyond. Please click here to view our intake form and indicate areas where you may be able to help. We are particularly interested in any employment and financial services support.

We also ask that you share information on our network with your contacts in the community. Below are links to our webpage and intake form you can share.

Thank you all for your continued support of our community. Stay safe, stay positive, and stay informed.

In solidarity,

The Miner Mutual Aid Action Team
