Building Connections Through Communication!
Opening Day for MRHS's new Jawsome Power Hour HUGE Success!
MRHS started its new Jawsome Power Hour Thursday and it couldn't have run smoother. We are so proud of our students for taking full advantage of the many opportunities for support and enrichment offered by our wonderful teachers and teaching assistants. Our custodial and cafeteria teams were on top of their game in support of Jawsome and did a phenomenal job adjusting and supporting our students. Our counseling team was out and about with administrators working with students and staff enjoying the many personal connections available.
There was a sense of calm in the building. Students got to eat with their friends and teachers while enjoying the many enrichment opportunities, making up work, working to improve grades, and studying. Students moved about without bells - It felt like a college campus! The students were able to eat in a variety of settings outside the cafeteria and we are proud to report ALL trays were returned and ALL eating spaces and classrooms were left spotless - great job kids! A special shout out to our senior class, who as our leaders, have taken this very seriously and their enthusiasm and follow through have been contagious.
We are looking forward to the many benefits of this transformational cultural shift for our school. We envision improved grades for all students, improved attendance, increased participation in enrichment opportunities, and a decrease in student referrals to name a few. Monday is a day 5 - everyone take the time to choose where you will be learning during Jawsome now.
Enjoy some pictures (above & below) of kids socializing with friends and teachers and taking advantage of the many learning opportunities we've created together.

A Heartfelt Letter to Our Amazing Art Teachers from a MRHS Alum- Powerful!
To my favorite teachers,
I wanted to send a well-deserved thank you, to you all, Mrs Donovan, Mrs. Biron, Mrs Trull, and Mrs Waystack. Between my years in middle school and then following my high school experience I have learned so much about the world, art and myself. You four lovely, caring, and talented women have been the best role models any student could have. You have always supported me with my weird projects and always encouraged me to dream big. You helped me when I was struggling either with art or in life, so that I could face my challenges and overcome them, with no fear. You have taught me so much about how to support my fellow artist and my fellow friends. You have shown me how to care deeply about what I'm working on, and how to really understand the meaning behind my work. You've truly made me a stronger artist and a better person. All of you have taught me so much about the different fields in art and because of your dedication to teaching and your passion for art, I have often found that I am the only one in my college classes that knows how to do things that other High Schools never taught. Things like sewing, bookmaking, ceramics, jewelry making, silk screening, independent projects. The skills you shared with me and my fellow peers from Monomoy have truly put us so far ahead in the art field. But the life lessons you have taught us have also developed us into strong, determined, passionate, and loving artist, and people. I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the love and support you gave me and my friends through the years. I miss you all very much and hope to see you all again!
Love,
Kylie De Oliveira
