Message from the Principal
Dear families,
The cold weather is here already so please make sure that we have your current contact information in our system in case you need to be notified for inclement weather updates. The District will provide information via autodialer message in case of school closures. The information is also posted on our District Website and share in the local TV and radio channels beginning at 5:30 a.m.
Also, please make sure students come to school with appropriate warm clothes so they can enjoy recess. Please do not hesitate to contact the office if they need coats, gloves, or any other items so we can connect you with the appropriate community resources we have available.
Our winter break will be from Monday, December 24th through Friday, January 4th. This is a special time to enjoy family time, and also continue learning. Please take time to ask students what they have been learning this month so they can continue practicing their skills at home. We hope you were able to receive valuable information during parent conferences to support your student at home. Please visit our school Website for additional resources.
We focus as a school every month on a character trait with the goal of teaching positive values on our students. This month's focus is Kindness. Please take a moment to talk to your child about different ways to show kindness in their every day at home, at the park, at the store, or any other place you visit as a family.
I hope this winter break will bring you joy and great family memories!
Parent Reminders
*Pick up-Please contact the office at least 30 minutes before dismissal time to arrange a pick up. Students are use to their daily routine and if they do not receive a pass they will go to their bus or walk home.
*Pick up/drop off area- Do not leave unattended vehicles parked in this area. This creates traffic and blocks crossing intersections, we want to have a smooth transition for our students and parents.
*Lunch- If you visit to have lunch with your student, you must report to the office first. You have to sign in our guest computer and wear a visitor pass at all times. You can sit with your student in our round table we have in our cafeteria.
4th Grade News!
Fourth grade students have visited the Shute Park library as part of the center's reading animation project. Some of the students have had an unforgettable experience because they could have their library card for the first time just by giving their address, telephone and name.
They made an autumn page mark to be able to use in the books that they read from now and they made a guided visit where they told them about the services that the library offers them.
They could see that there are many other materials besides books with which to have fun.
They also participated in a survey giving their ideas about what spaces they would like to have in the future in the library to create a future library.
We will repeat the experience in the next school year!
A great experience!!!!
