Classroom Update

Mrs. Woods Fifth Grade

This Week in Review

We have been busy wrapping up loose ends to prepare for the end of the year: we've been completing end-of-year reading tests, finishing a math unit on geometry (test today!), finishing the typing of our writing project (brochures), frantically squeezing in our final science and social studies topics, and trying to earn our last few eagles toward our school kickball game. Whew! We've been so busy, but the kids are doing a great job of staying on top of it and focused these last weeks. I'm SO proud of them!!

High Flyers

Last week's High Flyer was Jaison. He is new to our classroom this spring and has really fit in nicely! He is a great reader, asks intelligent questions and demonstrates our school wide Eagle Expectations just like he's always been an Eagle! Way to go, Jaison! We're happy to have you join our room!

This week's High Flyer was Mackenzie. She joined our classroom shortly after winter break. Mackenzie is always one of the first students to get quiet and follow directions when asked and never needs a teacher to redirect her behavior. She is polite to all classmates and works hard to do her best everyday! Thank you, Mackenzie, for showing us how it's done!

5th Grade Celebration

On Wednesday, May 29, the entire fifth grade will head to Macken Park in North Kansas City for a celebration picnic lunch and games. This will be a great day of fun for ALL fifth graders to enjoy their final days together in elementary school and to celebrate all their hard work at West Englewood. Parents are welcome to attend and participate. All parents will need to provide their own transportation to the park and their own lunch if they plan to eat with us. Students will be riding the bus to the park and will only need to bring a drink to enjoy with their pizza lunch provided by the school. We will arrive at the park by 11:00 and will be leaving at 1:30 to head back to school. Please let me know if you plan to join us that day. We would love to have you!

About Us

We are a very close knit group of energetic and enthusiastic fifth graders. We love to learn, laugh, talk, dance, and sing! Soon we'll be moving on to middle school, but we'll always be part of this family!
