Short week ahead with students, my hope is that you all are able to get some things accomplished on the work day ahead whether it be through RCD, planning with your peers, or conferencing with parents.

Just this week we were made aware that an AdvancED team will be visiting McAllister Elementary School as part of the district accreditation. The team will be here on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 7-12pm. The team will be in and throughout the building completing observations in all settings, in an effort to be prepared for them please ensure that you have your lesson plans printed and in a place that are easily accessible when they enter your classroom. In addition, there will likely be teacher as well as student teams that they will interview - we will receive specific information on this prior to the date of their visit. Below you will notice that I attached (File & Pictures) the observation tool they will use when observing instruction throughout the building, please pay special attention to the details. You all are doing these things in your classroom and it is important to showcase the amazing things in your class the day that they are on campus!

Leadership team will further discuss the visit this coming Tuesday afternoon, grade/area level leads will share back with their specific groups the expectations, etc. In addition, we will meet on Thursday, March 28, 2019 to speak more about the visit. If you have specific questions be sure to send them to me directly or have them ready when we meet.

Please notice the upcoming activities that have been planned. There are multiple opportunities to engage, the only thing missing is YOU! There are a multitude of activities to pique your interest from professional learning with peers through an EdCamp model this Saturday to helping beautify the campus through our 2nd Annual #MESrocks Day on Saturday, March 30, 2019 (9-12).

As a reminder, every Monday is a "Mindset Monday". Pair your mindset shirts with denim to kick the week off in style while focusing on our 7 Mindsets! With Teacher Workday we will bump our Monday's to Tuesday!

With an intentional focus of consistency on being curious & crazy for kids you will ALWAYS find a culture that is student focused!

Have a WONDERful Week!

Parent/Student/Teacher Conference - Entire Month of March

The month of March is our second opportunity of the year to have official parent conferences. I encourage you to begin scheduling these opportunities now, please know that while March 18, 2019 is scheduled for a "Teacher Workday" - You are welcome to use this opportunity conference with parents. There will be no meetings on this day that would otherwise pull you away from scheduling the entire day with conferences if you wish. We have talked about student-led conferences in the past, some of you all have ventured down this route with success. For those of you that are still unsure of the process and exactly how it would play out, I encourage you to use FlipGrid and have students pre-record parts of their conference that you feel parents would find helpful and beneficial. I encourage you to have students answer the following questions:

  • What do you feel are your strengths?
  • What do you feel are areas of growth?
  • What is your favorite part about school?
  • What is your least favorite part about school?
  • What is the one thing you are most proud of accomplishing this school year?
  • What can your parents do to help you be the best you can be at school?
Report to Parents - Effective Homework Help

Students with parents who are involved in their education are more likely to earn higher grades, adapt well to school, and pass their classes. But is there a point when parents can be too involved?
