This is also the same day as our annual College Fair – where we have representatives from 100+ colleges, universities, and trade schools all in one place for students and parents to learn more.

BIKES FOR TYKES DONATES BIKES TO BJH STUDENTS
Pete has been running Bikes for Tykes for 18 years. This is a neat organization that provides bicycles for people in need of transportation. He has generously provided some bicycles for Bedford JH to help a few students and some parents. He also works with Fort Worth ISD's Community Outreach program that helps special needs students learn employability skills. Thanks for your service to the community!
OPEN HOUSE
HOUSE OF SHINE
We are once again continuing our Homeroom program called “Hose of Shine”.
We started last year and went school wide with Level 1. We have continued this year with Level 1 for Seventh graders and Level 2 for eighth and ninth graders. There are Ten Principles of Shine that our students follow through activities and behaviors. An example would be to help “Bring out the best in other, Be accountable, and Use your own strengths”.
We would love to see our students at BJH become leaders in school and eventually in the community.
If a parent would like to make an appointment to visit with a Counselor to learn more about The House of Shine, we would be happy to talk with you.
Please talk with your student about what is learned during Homeroom.

7TH GRADE SOCIAL WAS A SUCCESS!
The new 7th grade students enjoyed a fun evening of dancing, eating and socializing at the 7th Grade Social last Friday night.
ATTENTION 7TH GRADE PARENTS
We will begin screening all 7th grade students the week of September 10th. All 7th graders will have the following screenings: vision, hearing, height/weight, blood pressure and acanthosis nigricans. In addition, all girls will have spinal screenings.
The purpose of spinal screening is to detect the signs of abnormal curves of the spine at their earliest stages so that the need for treatment can be determined. Due to changes in Texas screening laws, now all girls in 5th and 7th grades and boys in 8th grade are required to be screened. Exceptions to this are exemption for religious reasons or the student being under the care of a physician for scoliosis. Submission of a written affidavit of exemption or the results of a professional examination must be submitted to the school nurse for your student to be exempt from screening.
Screenings will be performed during non-core classes whenever possible. Also, note that it is beneficial for girls to have a tank top or sports bra available during screening.
