VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
"Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht." It was just over two weeks ago that we kicked off the break with a wonderful Christmas concert to a packed house. The concert was spectacular and the positive feedback from the community was plentiful and appreciated. We hope there were, in fact, silent nights and moments of calm in all of your homes over the Christmas break.
Here at MES, with all of the important work coming up before spring break, it may not always be peaceful and calm, but we continue to celebrate the organized enthusiasm here in the building. And, while student engagement looks, sounds, and appears different at times, I have personally witnessed much kindness, respectfulness, authentic collaboration, strength of character, and citizenship that leaves me filled with hope about this next phase of the school year.
We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students who have just joined our community from Ukraine - we wish you all the best as you adjust to your new community and school.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION FOR 2023-2024 IS OPEN JANUARY 5th
Parents/Guardians are encouraged to register their children soon after registration opens in January. Early registration will assist us in preparation and planning for the upcoming school year. Registering before March 1, 2023, will ensure there is sufficient time for school appointments and provide parents/guardians with the opportunity to participate in Kindergarten orientation activities. Visit www.HSD.ca for registration instructions.

Extreme Weather In severe weather conditions, the school division closes the school and stops the buses. An announcement is made on radio stations 95.1 FM, 96.7 FM, and AM 1250 between 7-8 am, as well as on www.steinbachonline.com and as a bulletin on the HSD website www.hsd.ca | Bus Delays When the buses are running late, there will be a Bus Delay Bulletin posted on HSD website. You can also call the Transportation Department at (204) 320-2347. | Bus Loop Procedures Just a reminder that there is no stopping or driving in the bus loop. This includes student pick ups and drop offs. Many children use that door when going out for recess and we need to keep the bus loop clear for safety reasons. |

PRESCHOOL PROGRAM AT MES
- Tuesday afternoons 1-3 pm
- Thursday mornings 9:15-11:45 am
Children will have the opportunity to play, learn, create, sing, and develop skills to prepare them for kindergarten.
Children ages 0-5 are welcome. You do not need to have a child attending the school, so feel free to invite other families that don’t have school aged children. Parents will be able to visit with other parents and participate in activities with their children. Programming is free and snacks will be provided.
Families can attend once or twice a week or drop by when able. We follow Hanover School Division’s calendar of in-services, holiday closures as well as hazardous/cold weather school closures. Our program is free to attend, and we can hardly wait to meet you!
Please contact Stacey Marcoux at (204) 326-9829 or email smarcoux@hsd.ca for more information.
