i-Ready Updates
i-Ready Growth Monitoring for February and March are optional within the district. I chose to keep them here at Sipley so that we can monitor the growth of our students. I entered those weeks on the calendar.
Now that we are into i-Ready, we can start using it in various ways. We can allow i-Ready to fill gaps and let it run for us as we are accustom to doing. There is also a way to assign lessons in i-Ready. For example, say that you are teaching a lesson on perimeter. The day before the lesson, you can assign a grade level lesson on perimeter to front-load learning. Or, you can assign a lesson on perimeter as independent practice as part of the math lesson. Or you can follow-up with a lesson on perimeter the day after teaching the concept. If you want to add grade level assignments for IAR Prep, you may choose to do that. When you assign lessons, students have two tabs when they log in. One is the green tab that will take them through the battery of assignments set forth by i-Ready. The other is a blue tab that contains the teacher assigned lessons.
Another way to use i-Ready is to adjust practice sessions. If you find a student is cruising in reading, but is struggling in math, allow them on i-Ready Reading one day a week and i-Ready Math three days of the week. If you feel your class needs more time on i-Ready, teach social studies four days a week and make one day a week for extra i-Ready Practice.
Stay abreast to i-Ready Practice. Go in and look at the student's progress. If Title I TAs are in the room, that is when you should be 1-1 with students who are struggling or in a small group to support multiple students.
Purpose, purpose, purpose! I am hoping you sense that I want you to drive your classroom and do what you need to do to ensure individual student growth and progress toward grade level proficiency.
I will be meeting with staff 1-1 to discuss data over the next two weeks.
All School Celebration Next Week
Grades 4 - 6 have the ARC from 12:45 - 2:15 on Friday. If teachers want to invite chaperones, feel free to do that.
Send students who are not taking part to the library.
For the last ARC trip in the Spring, all students will attend. If students misbehave and get a major ODR, they will have to write a contract related to their behavior and share ways that their misbehavior will not occur again. When they are successful, they will win back their opportunity to attend the all school event. I am not anticipating anyone being unsuccessful with that.
