Principal's Message
Dearest Families,
As the year winds down and we settle into the final month of this year, I am reflecting on the wild ride that has been 2020. I know I am "preaching to the choir" when I say that this year will go down in history as one of the most challenging years of our lifetimes. From the pandemic to the closure of schools, loss of jobs, social unrest, unprecedented political climate, and the devastating fire that ravaged our community, it has been a lot. I am sure I am not alone in my eagerness to close out the chapter of this year.
With that being said, though, there are still many blessings and immense gratitude that I can point to through these hard times. Namely, our wonderful community. What attracted me to working in our district is the community that we get to serve. Though we are relatively small in numbers, the heart of Phoenix-Talent is as big as it gets. I believe this is a direct reflection of the students and families we get to serve. You are what drives us to get up each morning, to pull up our bootstraps and keep moving forward. Through your endless flexibility, creative problem-solving, and compassionate understanding we have made it through this year together. Thank you for your continued love and support. You bring us hope and inspiration each day.
As you know, we are aiming (again) to reopen our doors after the New Year. January 5th is the target start date for Kinder-3rd grades. Students in 4th-8th grades have a target start date of January 11th. And, the high school aims to begin on February 1st. Due to some issues with busing, we are tweaking the elementary AM/PM time slots a bit. As soon as those details are finalized, we will send out a schedule.
When your child is not in school in-person, they will be offered enrichment content through their google classroom. If you elected to stay virtual during this re-opening, your child's teacher should have made arrangements for you to either watch their live instruction via a google hangout, attend a virtual session similar to CDL, or have made arrangements for entering into the Virtual Academy. If you elected for Virtual Academy, please make sure you have filled out the appropriate waitlist form linked here.
We here at TES are wishing everyone a peaceful winter break that is filled with lots of love. If there is anything you need from us, please don't hesitate to reach out. As I mentioned above, we will be in touch soon about our hyrbid schedule.
Warmly,
Heather Lowe Rogers
