Mid-September School News

Principal McMullen's Message

Dear RJ Richey Family,

We are excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow on Thursday, September 9th. We know that this break from school was a change in our previously communicated schedules and calendars, and we appreciate all of our Bulldog family for understanding the need to put student and staff safety as our highest priority. We are proud to serve such a supportive community, and our RJ team thanks you for your kind words, compliments, and communication along the way.

Our teachers have been busy redesigning instructional schedules and planning lessons collaboratively as teaching teams so that we can best meet our students' needs when coming back to school. We know and understand that many of our students have been out of school due to close contacts or family COVID concerns. We want to encourage you to continue to communicate with your child's teacher for make-up work or access to Google classroom so that students away from school are able to engage with school work.

Supporting our students is of the utmost importance to us, and we believe in helping each and every child to feel successful both academically and socially-emotionally. If there is anything that we can do to help best serve your child or your family, please reach out to us at RJ Richey, because we are happy to help.

You'll notice that we've provided an updated and revised September calendar for the rest of the month at RJ. In our best effort to take necessary precautions and out of an abundance of safety concerns, we are rescheduling our previously calendared events such as our Book Fair and Open House for a later time in October. We will also be sure to plan to host our Grandparent's Day later in the Spring when we can limit exposure and risk to our most loved grand-visitors. You'll find the updated copy of our September calendar below, but please feel free to reach out to us at RJ should you have any questions.

Thank you again for being such an essential part of our Bulldog Pride at RJ! We look forward to seeing our Bulldogs back at school tomorrow!

In Spirit, Pride, and Honor,

Jessica McMullen, RJ Richey Elementary Principal

BCISD COVID-19 Information

We again find ourselves in a unique season as we've started a new school year and started it well, but as you know COVID-19 continues to keep things from returning to normal like in years past.

We continue to adapt to what's happening around us and monitor positive cases in our community and in our school. We will continue to communicate openly with you about confirmed cases at RJ as well. We remain committed to providing safe and engaging learning environments for our students. We know that being diligent in following safety precautions and protocols is essential and that the guidance from the State that governs many decisions is very different from those that we've been directed to follow mere months ago.

We want to encourage you to read and look through the BCISD In-Person Instructional Plan and Continuity of Services to help understand the current BCISD protocols and required practices linked for you below:

Diva Dawgs and Bulldog Bros

We are so excited about meeting again with our Diva Dawgs and Bulldog Bros, since we have not been able to meet since January of 2019. There may be hurdles ahead, with all the changes happening with CV-19, but my promise to you is that as long as we have girls and boys wanting to come, and as long as we have the "green light" to meet, we will continue to empower these young ladies and gentlemen with character building skills and confidence to go out and change the world around them. Thank you for letting us grow together, and become stronger and BETTER together!

In Bulldog Pride,

Darlene Denton

Attached you will find our lesson topics and meeting dates for September through May of 2022.

This is a great opportunity for our 3rd -6th grade girls and boys to grow in Courage, Confidence and Character as they give back to this community and the philanthropic cause that they vote on at the September meeting.
