Clouds in Earth's Troposphere

By Barbara Rivera

What are Clouds?

Clouds are a thick mass of suspended water droplets or ice crystals. These clouds are located in the Troposphere layer of our atmosphere, but can sometimes stretch out into the Stratosphere. All clouds fall into either one of these categories;

High Clouds - 7 km (Cirro)

Mid Clouds - 2-7 km (Alto)

Low clouds - 0-2 km (Stratus)
