Planting the Seeds of 16-17

So after Spring Break, I always like to start thinking of next school year and what I would like to do differently or change. What did not work so well or what could I do to make something better?

Sometimes when making changes.....we wish we would could see it in action. I think the motto, "Take me to a place where this is happening". During PD, that is new to me, it is always helpful for me to see it in person. Think about you number one change for next year, do you need to see it in action? Do you need more information about it? Where could that be found?

I have been thinking about our school for next year. What changes overall would be beneficial for our staff and students? Here is what I have come up with:

-Rigor-Raise the bar. When we have high expectations for our students, they will go much further than if we were to set the bar much lower.

-Respect-Respect for themselves and the job they do.....respect for their peers....and respect for the adults that serve in our building. Notice it was not just teachers, but all adults.

Think about the instruction in your own classroom.....does rigor and respect look like this:

The rigor is certainly there. I know I would struggle with that math problem. Wendy Cole-What about you?? I do not see an issue with respect.....

Need to Know News

BSE will be hosting Play 60 for our 2nd and 3rd grade students on Wednesday, May 4. We are asking ALL students to dress in their Carolina Panther attire or their favorite NFL team.

Family Fun Night

Information will go home about Family Fun Night this week. All proceeds will go to benefit Relay for Life. Families are invited to bring chairs, blankets, and enjoy a hotdog plate while the kids play on the inflatables. We will have a kickball game as well. Lots of fun for the whole family. **We are also going to need some players for the faculty kickball team**

Greenville Drive Vouchers

We sent home tickets vouchers for those students that participated in the Drive reading program on Monday. Parents will need to trade in their vouchers for a ticket. The best seats go to the ones that trade in their vouchers first. If you can include this on your communications to parents that would be great. I will ensure it is on the phone message home.

I have sent out a list of those approved to attend SLA. Feel free to go ahead and schedule conferences after Spring Break. Remember you will need to give the parent the information letter. You will turn in the conference sheet, signed by the parent, and the learning path to me. If they deny, you will just need to turn in the conference sheet.

You are welcome to go ahead and hold these conferences. Keep in mind that you are telling them that this is a recommendation. Make sure you have them sign the conference sheet as whether they agree of disagree. We will give the final word closer to the end of the year.

Due this Week

All conferences sheets for SLA, SRC, and Retention need to be turned into the office Monday.

Signed Papers go home Friday

Make-up Time Sheets Due

Lunch Menus will now be digital. Parents are able to download an app that will allow them to check daily menus. The app is titled NurtiSlice. Parents will search for Spartanburg District Two. They will have the option to choose elementary, middle, or high school. Once you have selected the school, parents will be able to view the breakfast or lunch menu.

Parents are also able to pay their lunch bill online. I have include a link below titled "Pay your Lunch Bill" below.
