Merry Christmas

Thank you for trusting us with all your amazing children this fall. We know you send your best gift, your gold, to us, and we pray each day that as we share this important job with you to prepare them in the image of God, we do it well.

As we all prepare for the Christmas break, please remember to pray for our community and for your teachers here. Our teachers are selfless and could teach in many other places for much more, but they are here. Our community is hurting and filled with hurting people. Pray for our students to continue to be light in this place. Pray for our leadership to know how to meet the needs we hear about every day. Know that we pray for you.

Merry Christmas and may God bless your family this coming year.

St. Mary's Catholic Church and compassion of kids

A student came to me and Deacon Bob this week and asked if she could organize a fundraiser to benefit St. Mary's, which had burned to the ground this week. She wanted to encourage the student body to wear Christmas hats and sweaters on Friday this week and enter a contest to raise money to send to the church from the students. In a rapid turn around, they raised $50 in $1 increments today! This is caring for those in need. You can be proud of the initiative of your students and of the curriculum that teaches this kind of compassionate action.

This church was a special church in this community and the article linked above tells its story.

Wrestling updates

Wrestling is up to good stuff! They have a young but tough team. We are excited to have our new coach, Coach Sears, and his staff working to prepare our kids for the very competitive sport of wrestling. These kids will get stronger in body and mind over the course of this season.

If you want to see them competing this weekend, head over to CMR for the biggest wrestling meet in the northwest. 53 teams are competing in the Holiday Classic Friday and Saturday.

Wrestlers are traveling on the 7th and 9th of January.

Giving Tree Update

Thank you to all those who provided gifts to the needy children in our community. Our seniors bagged them up and delivered them this week to the preschool that we were partnered with. The lessons we learn about giving stay with us for a lifetime. It is a blessing to share this with our students at GFCC.

Our Key Club headed up to Skyline School to help Santa hand out gifts to prekindergarten and toddlers then read to them this week. They joined Kiwanis and the Key Clubs from the public schools. Fun was had by all!

Endowment so close

We are still hoping to push an endowment set up in memory of Keenan Dunn over to the payout point soon. it is within $2,000 of that goal. That means if we had 100 supporters of Central donate $20 to this worthy project, students in our school would be eligible for scholarships to offset tuition at the high school into the future. We appreciate any support you can give, including prayer for our school finances and leadership. If you find you can help with this project, contact Wes Ross at advancement@greatfallscentral.org and he will set that up for you.

Thank you to our local restaurants!!

Taco Del Mar and Teriyaki Madness have been so generous to us this fall by allowing us to fund-raise through their businesses. We appreciate their spirit of giving back and your willingness to partner with us to help raise money for the students at Great Falls Central. Keep watching for more of these community fundraisers. We hope to find a place YOU like to eat too!

Benefit for Kiari

Kiari is the sister of one of our juniors at Central and she is adorable. Her family could really use some good news this season. Please stop in at this fundraising benefit, if you can.

Prom

Prom has been set by the junior class for March 14th. The guidelines for dress are available in the office, if anyone is shopping early and needs to know what to look for. We look forward to seeing your beautiful outfits and want to give you opportunities to find the best deal and the perfect item. Please keep in mind that students attending this event should demonstrate a sense of personal dignity and Christian modesty. It is important that all attending adhere to our dress code.

Paper donations welcome

Monica said we are still in need of copy paper. If you see a ream or two on sale, please remember us and drop some by. We are out and now ordering it. We really appreciate it!
