Where the Adventure Begins...
HAPPY FRIDAY!!
Hello ECS Families! We have had a wonderful week this week here at ECS! On April 1st, we welcomed our 1000th student and that is no April fools!! It's the first time in Frisco's history that our school has had this many children enrolled at one time! You may be feeling it in carpool because obviously it takes a few extra minutes when we're safely moving that many small children. We're feeling it inside the building with even more smiles and hugs!
On April 2nd we celebrated Autism with Light It Up Blue!! It's an honor to be able to work with so many children with autism here and be part of their special journey. These children are truly exceptional and we learn from them every day!
Teacher Appreciation week is just around the corner and we have a mom who is heading up some sweet events that week! If you are interested in finding out more and possibly helping, please look below for planning meeting information.
Building relationships with your children is my very favorite part of this job. This week after hugging one of our sweet Pre-K students, he smiled and told his teacher, "Ms. Ellis always smells just like pie...sweet potato pie!" I'm pretty sure that is the biggest compliment I have ever received! Thank you for allowing us to serve you and your children. They bring so much joy to our lives!
Have a wonderful weekend!

The Counselor Corner
Talking about money can help your young child learn about financial responsibility. Like other important topics, share and discuss ideas a little at a time at their level. Parents have different opinions about whether or not to give allowances to their children. Here are a couple of ideas if you choose to give an allowance and other suggestions if you choose not to give an allowance.
One idea I have seen over and over again is to have three different containers (e.g. jars, piggy banks). Each container has a different label: “Saving,” “Sharing,” and “Spending.” Help your child understand that financial responsibility means saving for big things. Therefore, they need help setting a realistic goal. If not, he or she may give up saving for a big ticket purchase if it takes months to save. The “Sharing” money can be donations at your place of worship or a local charity. And of course their “spending money” can be for small items and used when the family goes shopping. If you prefer to teach your child to work for money at an early age, agree on family chores versus paid responsibilities. It’s important to discuss expectations and limits—you may not want to have a shopping spree in the candy aisle or to come home with critters from the pet store just because your child can afford them.
