Welcome!
Don't Forget!!
We will be kicking off our Big Kahuna fundraiser this week. More information will be sent home in your child's BEE folder. Please let us know if you have any questions!
Readers, Writers, Social Studies
In Readers Workshop we have been focusing on what good readers do. This means we read every day, we read a lot, and we reread our books for understanding! We are also able to make text to self connections to our texts. Don't forget about our MILLION WORD CHALLENGE!! Have your child read 1-2 books with you every night at home and write it on the reading log.
In Writers Workshop we are working on adding details to our writing and writing for a purpose! This includes rereading our work for clarity, taking risks in writing, and using self-conferences to work towards our writing goals.
In Social Studies we are focused on being GOOD CITIZENS! We have been talking about good citizenship since the beginning of school. We are also learning how to locate Texas and the United States on a map or a globe.
Math Workshop
Here is an example of one of our problem solving questions: Maggie and Abby have 8 cookies to share among themselves. They decide that they do not need to receive the same number of cookies but each person should get at least one. How many different ways can they share the cookies?
