News You Can Use!
The District Art Show is returning to Mennies on March 23rd. Please have your hallway displays removed by March 15th. Thank you!
A reminder regarding breakfast in the am...students either eat breakfast provided by the school or do not eat. Items should not be brought in from home to eat for breakfast. Thank you! Students should also NOT be coming into school with hot drinks.
Thanks to those who helped make the Lip Sync a success! Special thanks to Alexis, Lauren V. and Chris...we raised over $700 for the Mennies Scholarship Fund.
Another reminder that if you are sending home flyers for an event/fundraiser that your grade level is holding--PLEASE GIVE THE OFFICE EXTRA COPIES! There have been several recent events that we received NO flyers for. Also, if it is not on the Google Calendar, there will not be a Remind or Facebook post to promote your event. Thank you for your cooperation!
Also, a reminder about contacting parents. Parents should not be receiving texts from teachers constantly regarding discipline issues and academic issues. Texting via Remind, Bloomz is fine for classroom activities, etc. Pick up the phone and call a parent when you are having academic and discipline issues!
TECH TIP OF THE WEEK
Check it out because you can easily turn Google Spreadsheets into online flashcards, bingo, quiz shows, etc.
Words of Wisdom
On the highest throne in the world, we still sit only on our own bottom.
~ Michel de Montaigne, The Complete Essays
With something to think about . . .In today's world, most every action is posted on social media, for better or worse. Arrogance and selfishness seem to rank as normal, and because of that, it can become hard to entice young minds into the unglamorous world of humility and forthrightness. Acting honorably because your character demands that you do so (regardless of who is watching) can seem like an old-fashioned, even useless notion. So, it is important that we teach these young, and often self-absorbed minds, that it is far better to be absorbed with doing what is honorable than paying the consequences of reaching for the highest throne by unprincipled means.
Remember to take care of yourself.
Feeling anchored and strong are the best ingredients to going out into the world with humility. What do you draw strength from?
Happy Birthday!
