A Message From Your Principal - Un mensaje de la Directora Sra. Fine
Dear Glenn Families,
We are so thrilled to have welcomed an additional 40 students back on campus these past few weeks! We are currently at 65% In Person and are hoping to bring back an additional 10 - 20% before the end of the school year. Please call our Glenn Office at 210 -397-2250 if you would like your child(ren) to begin attending school In Person so we can discuss next steps.
We recently hosted Literacy Night and gave away 3 LEVELED READERS PER STUDENT! These were texts within their grade level to support accuracy (word recall), fluency (rate of reading) and comprehension (understanding what is being read) along with some other AWESOME goodies! We will continue to host family events to promote academics, the arts, and social emotional learning.
We are beginning to discuss End of the Year Status for students for this school year. Additionally, we are THRILLED to announce that Summer Programming will be at GLENN THIS SUMMER! We are inviting at least 60% of our students to participate, as this will be a HUGE opportunity to close academic gaps and prepare them for the next school year. Please expect Parent Conferences to discuss Promotion / Retention for the 2021 - 2022 school year.
It is the time to complete your Data Verification for NISD. Essentially, by completing this you are securing your spot at Glenn. This information is sent to various district departments in order to determine how many teachers will be allocated per grade level next year and how many students we can register. PLEASE complete this ASAP - we WOULD LOVE to have your children attend Glenn next year! We love our Astronauts!
More information and links below.
In closing, we are extremely proud of our community, students, teachers, and staff at Glenn. I am amazed every single day at their grit, perseverance, and determination as we have navigated these uncharted waters. I leave you with one of my favorite quotes, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's learning to dance in the rain."
Let's finish strong Glenn Community! Our kids depend on it!
