Happenings Around Dry Creek Elementary

Greetings Dry Creek Community,

As we wrap up the summer break, I want to acknowledge the difficulty that the pandemic has placed on parents when it comes to deciding which learning option is best for your student(s). As a community, we support the decisions that each family has made and acknowledge that both online learning and in-person/remote learning are not perfect options. Each model of school will come with unique celebrations and challenges.

For those who will engage in learning online exclusively this school year, please know that our teachers and staff will miss you and are looking forward to welcoming you back to Dry Creek in 2021. For the families that have opted for the in-person/remote learning option, we are excited to see you! The Dry Creek staff is eager and ready to welcome students back to school.

Updated Staff Placements

In my previous communication, I provided the staff placements for the 2020-21 school year. There have been some changes to teacher assignments. In order to adequately staff teaching positions for the online elementary program, each school in the district shifted teachers to staff the online program. At Dry Creek, Ms. Natalie Salario (3rd grade) and Mrs. Jen Hager (5th Grade) have moved to the online elementary program and will teach exclusively online this year. Internally, Mr. Joel Kufeldt will move from 4th grade to 5th grade. Mrs. Kathy Rasmussen will moving from Kindergarten to 4th grade. The updated staff placements are available below. Student's class placements are currently being adjusted to reflect the staffing adjustments and will be communicated on August 12, 2020 to families.

Kindergarten Assessment Days

For our incoming Kindergarten students and families, there will be scheduled times on August 17th and 18th where students will come to school to meet and work individually with our Kindergarten teachers. Parents are able to join students for these meetings and will be expected to adhere to all safety precautions including practicing physical distancing and wear a face covering.

Dry Creek P.A.S.S. Meeting

Wednesday, Sep. 9th, 6-7pm

This is an online event.

P.A.S.S. stands for Partnerships for Academically Successful Students. It is a committee comprised of parents, Dry Creek staff, and community members. We are looking for parents who are interested in joining the P.A.S.S. committee. The purpose of P.A.S.S. is to support the district's goal of Inclusive Excellence and is a critical component of systemic equity transformation. P.A.S.S. provides a structure to build relationships between the school and parents in an effort to create an inclusive learning environment for all students. P.A.S.S. also gives parents and guardians of students of color voice and direct access to the administration and staff. This year's first P.A.S.S. meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 9th from 6:00-7:00 pm. Please add your name and e-mail address below if you are interested in attending. A link will be sent to you once you RSVP.

A Message from the PTCO

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! While things may look different this year, you can expect the PTCO to continue with the same effort and drive as in previous years. Fundraising will look a lot different this year, however, we will still be starting the year off with our annual pledge drive. We are asking for a pledge of $150 per child. Just like in previous years, this money will help fund our technology needs and our teaching assistants. With a full $150 pledge by September 1st, you will get the opportunity to place a personalized message to your student or family member on the marquee!

Follow the link below to donate today. We really appreciate all your support to help ensure our school remains one of the best in the state!
