Friday Message from Dr. Glaze
School is right around the corner with a full slate of activities the week leading up to the first day of school on Thursday, August 11. On Tuesday, July 26 our school offices reopen for the year. Walk-in registration and Blue Card and White Card Night are set for 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28. We are conducting New Teacher Orientation on Thursday and Friday, July 28 and 29 and Summer Teacher Academy the following Thursday and Friday, August 4 and 5.
On Friday, August 4, the Pride of the Blue Devils Marching Band will host their annual Community Night. If the stadium field is not complete, the event will take place on the practice field beginning at 6 p.m. There will be first responders present for a demonstration and the Love Bug Food Truck will be onsite with a hot dog bar! The community is invited to enjoy this special evening with music enthusiasts and members of the THS band.
TMS Rocks takes place on Monday, August 8. Tuesday, August 9 teachers return to their classrooms followed by Meet the Teacher Night for students from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for PreK through grade 5 and from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. for students in grades 6 through 12. Wednesday, August 10 is the first of three scheduled Professional Development Days for our educators. The other two days are set for Wednesday, September 21 and Monday, February 6. We have one scheduled e-Learning Day for students on Friday, April 21. Our revised 2022-23 Academic Calendar can be found here.
I would like to give a shout out to our Tipton High School graduates and current students who were among this year’s Miss Tipton County 4-H Court. Madison Powell (’21), Joni Ripberger (’22), Abigail Overdorf, and Allison Powell. Each of these young ladies embody the characteristics, servant spirit, and heart to make positive contributions and a difference through their involvement in 4H, at school, and in the community. Congratulations!
On a side note, if you have any transportation changes (i.e., address or will no longer be riding the bus) prior to the start of the new school year or have questions related to your child’s bus route, contact Laurie Crawford, Transportation Department direct at 765-675-2147, ext. 324 or email: lcrawford@tcsc.k12.in.us. Our drivers will be contacting parents of bus riders the week of August 1 to ensure an accurate count of riders, pick up and drop of points and approximate times for their riders to help us better serve the families in our district.
Speaking of transportation, we have hit a snag that is likely to delay the completion of the student parking lot area before the start of school. I am deeply grateful to our families who understand that even the best laid plans can experience the unexpected. Your patience and flexibility with a temporary parking, drop off and pick up process is greatly appreciated until the project is complete. I also want to thank our construction management team for having all hands-on deck as they work through this bump in the road to ensure a quality surface that will serve the corporation well for years to come. We’ll keep you in the loop as the project progresses.
As a reminder, registration for returning students is open for the 2022-23 school year. If you haven’t completed your registration, kindly take a few minutes to complete by logging in to your PowerSchool account, using your previous username and password. Please do not use the PowerSchool App to complete the forms. We also encourage use of a computer and not your SMART phone. No computer, no problem! We will have computers available in each building starting July 26. Forms needing update are located on the left side of the PowerSchool page. Review and make sure all forms are complete and accurate. Don’t forget to sign and change the dates to 2022-2023 on the forms. If you need to apply for FREE and REDUCED now is the time (after July 1 annually to qualify). Thank you for knocking out this task to help make the first day of school a smooth one.
Our Tipton High School Band will once again make residents of the greater Tipton area proud when it plays the national anthem at tomorrow night’s Indianapolis Indians vs. St. Paul Saints game. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy THS Band Night and exciting baseball action at Victory Field! #BlueFuture
