Schoolnet Benchmark Testing September 28
PTA OPEN HOUSE SEPTEMBER 10, 2015 5:30-7:00
Teachers,
The Laying the Foundation training dates are listed below. All LTF trainings will take place on the half-day embedded professional developed dates. The LTF training is designed to give you the tools you will need to incorporate rigorous lessons into your classrooms.
Once you have received the appropriate professional development you will have access to the LTF website. All Science, English, and Math teachers should attend the trainings. If you are a new teacher you should sign up for theses trainings ASAP.
Please email me and copy Mrs. Reed if you have not attended any LTF sessions or if you need a particular module so we can make plans to have your classes covered on the session dates you wish to attend, then go to STI to register for the trainings (new teachers will need all modules).
If you are a new teacher and you require assistance registering for a session please contact your department head (please see the faculty handbook for department head information).

Tardy log inserts:
If you did not pick up the inserts for the tardy logs they are in front of your mailboxes.
Additional Reminders:
STUDENTS MUST BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED WHILE YOU PROVIDE THEM WITH STANDARDS BASED INSTRUCTION DURING EACH BLOCK. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE DISTRICT PACING GUIDE AND ALLOW STUDENTS TO TWIRL: TALK, WRITE, INVESTIGATE, READ AND LISTEN DURING EACH BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER ACTIVITY!
Attendance:
Post attendance everyday. Remember your HR attendance is separate from your 1st block attendance. You must also post attendance for each block. This week, parents will receive a call at approximately 10:00 a.m. and again at 7:00 p.m. notifying them of student absences. It is critical that attendance is posted at the beginning of each period. If attendance has not been taken, the system will assume the student is absent and contact the parent/guardian.
Hallways:
Be at your door between each class period to greet students as they enter and bid them farewell when they leave for the day. You are doing a great job with this!
Grading:
This is a reminder to post grades in INOW each Friday by 4:00 p.m. Parents are providing district personnel with feedback on grades that have not been entered. Please read through the Parent/Student Information Guide-parents have been advised that teachers will be posting at least ONE grade per week.
Student Supervision:
This is a reminder that students should always be in the company of a certified teacher. If you are the coach of an athletic team and you are the certified sponsor please keep this in mind-you must be present at the practices and games. If you cannot be present you must find a certified replacement to fill-in. Please understand that this is a non-negotiable requirement and is for your protection and for the safety of our students. Never hold a practice or have a game in which there is not a certified coach present.
In addition, students must never be left alone in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, etc.
Hall pass:
If you allow students out of your classroom they must have a hall pass. Please refer to the faculty handbook and subsequent newsletters.
Discipline:
Please do not send discipline incidents to the school counselor. If you have a true discipline incident complete an office referral and call Mrs. Clegg. If the incident warrants you can always call security. Note if the situation warrants a call to security is acceptable. Security will only respond to true emergencies, they will not act as classroom managers.
We have four weeks till Benchmark I testing....Please let us know if you are having trouble with pacing....
Have a wonderful week!
