A Message From Our Principal
Greetings!
We had a busy week at the High School and we haven’t had a full week of school yet! However, we managed to safely meet with all freshman and sophomore students in a two day general class assembly. Each grade level was split in half to safely accommodate them in the auditorium using social distancing. While we welcomed them back and went over some rules, I would still ask that parents review the handbook and go over the dress code and the code of conduct with your child.
Our students have settled in and lunches are running smoother. Students are given responsibility to handle their time management during lunch and make sure if they go outside they are back in on time for their next class. So far, so good!
I also remind parents of the affirmation forms that should be signed and sent back to the school. In this, you agree to monitor your child and make sure you are not sending them to school if they are not feeling well. If you have not signed an affirmation form, you can find it HERE or here ESPANOL.
The High School will hold a virtual back to school night on Monday, September 20, starting at 6:30pm. Initially, you are asked to go to the High School web page and at 6:30pm view the live welcome from administration. Following the broadcast, parents will use their child's log in to enter their google classroom. Information with a tutorial (linked below) has been sent to parent emails in hopes that we all do a practice run before Monday. Everyone is looking forward to meeting our students' parents!
Until next week, have a great weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!

Friday is Constitution Day and our AP Government & Politics class did their annual reading of the preamble.
Constitution Day is an American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is normally observed on September 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia.

Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year! #DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion. This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative! The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring. This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!? Have them sign into their school accounts and click here! 😊
