Guardian of the Galaxy!

Tracy Gonzales! Thank you for doubling up math sections all day Wednesday when we were short subs! Thank you for making FSE a great place to be!

Remember to acknowledge each other for acts of kindness and going above and beyond on our Guardian of the Galaxy bulletin board by the mailboxes.

Power Zone Importance

It is imperative that you are in the Power Zone at recess, in the hallway, and at restroom breaks. Our data indicates that these unstructured times are seeing an increase in behavior concerns and incidences. It is hard to justify student consequences when adult supervision is not present.

Thank you!

There were several instances this week when we had to re-assign paras to cover classes, teams had to double up students, and yet others had to split kids into other homerooms for the day when we were short subs. Each time we did this, staff members were positive and willing to do whatever it took to help out. This type of attitude doesn't exist everywhere and it is what makes us so special. We have each other's backs and when emergencies arise, we take care of each other. Thank you!

The nomination window is open now. Please consider nominating a student today!

Breakfast in the Classroom Reminders

Breakfast in the Classroom Information from Pam Watson:

It appears that we are not receiving proper documentation of all students and/or teachers receiving meals.

A few reminders:

Students are NOT able to just take the milk for example if they ate at home and that is all they want. The way it is set up, the teachers are supposed to mark the students as they get a meal and not the students. I realize the importance of teaching responsibility, however, for proper claiming purposes it needs to be done by the teacher. When we don’t properly capture all the meals eaten, the district has a loss of revenue because we are not able to claim those meals.

So to summarize:

1. The student must take all 3 components of the breakfast.

2. The teacher must mark off the student name for accounting purposes.

Student Led Conference Data

We had 541 parents come to the student led conferences! The feedback is very positive from parents and teachers. If you have a student who did not get to lead a conference, please set up a time for them to lead one with another staff member they may feel comfortable with. It is powerful for students to share their goals.
