Gananda Drama Club Presents Curtains

Gananda's High School Drama Club proudly presents 'Curtains,' a murder-mystery musical comedy whodunit, March 27-29. When the terrible leading lady of an even worse, new Broadway-bound musical mysteriously drops dead on Opening Night, Lieutenant Frank Cioffi arrives on the scene to solve the crime (and save the show!). With the suspense and plot twists of an Agatha Christie novel, the screwball antics of an 'I Love Lucy' episode, and a musical score from the creators of the hit musicals 'Chicago' and 'Cabaret,' 'Curtains' is not to be missed!

Senior Dominic Petrucci stars as Lieutenant Frank Cioffi with key suspects: Bossy producer Carmen (junior Hannah Van Scoy), flippant director Christopher Belling (senior Rocco Olivieri), feuding composer Aaron (senior Alex Beenhouwer) and lyricist Georgia (senior Hope Worcester), naive ingenue Niki (sophomore Kat Harms), vengeful chorine Bambi (sophomore Olivia Davis), and lovesick choreographer Bobby (sophomore Nathan Clarcq). Rounding out the list of suspects are seniors Ariel Gaziano, Logan Muha, Kaitlyn Nichols; juniors Ashlyn Bolte-Pauley, Angelina Cantatore, Rosetta Famellette; sophomores Ethan Kuntz and Erica Levandoski; freshmen Gabrielle Brice, Maria D'Agostino, Josie LaDuke, Victoria Rivera, and Molly Tichacek.

The student crew includes Shawn Foglia, Lillian Freeman, Morgan Gardner, Sam Gaziano, Nicole Jerzak, Monica Krym, Angie Marra, Marissa Rivera, Matthew Rothwell, Katarina Rutman, Courtney Sicker, CJ Springer, Abby Parulski, Ian Poulsen. The High School Drama Club's 2020 production has vocal direction by Mr. Jed Kovalovsky, pit direction by Mrs. Kate Logan, and technical direction by Mrs. Regina Swartout. Club adviser Greg Maddock serves as director and choreographer.

Performances are March 27 & 28 at 7:30 pm, March 29 at 2:00 pm, at Susan H. Alexander Performing Arts Center at Ruben A. Cirillo High School. Tickets are $8 Adults, $7 Students and Seniors. Run time: 2 hrs 30 min. Rated: PG-13 for mild language and dark comedy.

'Curtains' opened on Broadway in 2007 with book by Rupert Holmes, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Fred Ebb with original book and concept by Peter Stone. The production, starring David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk, received 8 Tony nominations including Best Musical. 'Curtains' is presented through special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.

I heard....is it true?

Gananda Central School District recognizes the importance of communication with parents, community members, students and staff. While every effort is made to ensure that accurate information is shared, it is not uncommon for rumors or myths to be circulating throughout the community. As such, we have started a page on our website entitled, "Fact Checker Page." This page is dedicated to providing accurate information about GCSD. If you see or hear information about GCSD that you believe is inaccurate you can have it fact checked! Please send your contact information, the facts you would like checked, and where you found the information to Shannon Bergstresser, Public Relations Specialist, at: Sbergstresser@gananda.org. The first fact check: The turf field cannot be used for JV or Varsity Football Games. Is it true? Check out the answer on the Fact Checker Page!

Register Now for Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run is our program for girls in 3rd-5th grade that encourages girls to recognize their individual strengths and celebrate connections with others. Each season, girls gain a better understanding of who they are and what's important to them, the value of teamwork and healthy relationships and how they can have a positive impact on the world. Girls also make a meaningful contribution to their community through a team-organized Community Impact Project. Physical activity is woven into the program to inspire an appreciation for fitness and healthy habits and teach life skills including treating others with care, practicing gratitude and managing emotions. Each season culminates with a Girls on the Run 5K event. This celebratory, non-competitive event provides girls with a sense of accomplishment and instills the value of goal setting at a young age.
