Our 2nd annual Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Family Night is coming soon! Come out and join us in learning, playing, and growing with your classmates as we explore social emotional stations and resources that support students of all ages. Our theme for the night is "Better Together," which will focus on connecting our student body!
BE PREPARED FOR A CODE ORANGE
Last year, we introduced “Code Orange,” which is used when weather conditions are marginal and impact road or sidewalk safety conditions but are not so severe as to cause substantial impacts.
We will continue to use this code in the same manner for this school year, however students will have a VIRTUAL LEARNING DAY synchronously with their teachers.
Code Orange may also be used in lieu of a delayed opening. PWCS will continue to have “Code Red” days (closing all schools and operations) for significant weather impacts. More information on weather codes can be found here.
Below is what a CODE ORANGE SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING DAY...will look like for Porter students:
- School buildings and office buildings are closed.
- LIVE, virtual classes will be held from 9:00am to 2:00pm (see schedule below).
- Buses will not operate.
- Student enrolled in PWCS K-8 Virtual Academy, Virtual Prince William, and Virtual Virginia should follow their normal schedule.
- The Alpha Best program will not open.
- All in-person school activities (day and evening) are canceled including field trips, club meetings, tutoring, interscholastic contests, and athletic contests.
- Remote (virtual) activities may occur.
- All non-school activities (day and evening) are canceled including Adult Education, evening school classes, and community use, including recreational programs scheduled in school buildings.
