HOSA Attends the Spring Leadership Conference

This week our HOSA club participated in the New York State HOSA Spring Leadership Conference and competed in several events. The team did very well and the winners will be announced this week!

Counseling Connection

HESC will be hosting a virtual FAFSA and TAP Application Completion Event on March 29 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Students will receive one-on-one assistance from financial aid professionals who can answer their questions and help them complete their FAFSA and NYS application for TAP with ease.Students can register here.


SENIORS: There are currently 19 scholarships posted and more are coming. Many of them are for Rye Neck students only and some only require an essay! See Mrs. Kane ASAP for applications. CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


SUNY COLLEGE SPRING FAIRS

The fairs will include admissions representatives from 40 or more SUNY campuses. Students can register at engage.suny.edu/portal/suny_college_fairs.


WESTCHESTER COUNTY FAIRS ADMISSION IS FREE AT BOTH EVENTS

  • NORTHERN WESTCHESTER - Tuesday, April 25
    Putnam-Northern Westchester BOCES in Yorktown Heights, NY
    8:30 am – 1:00 pm and 5:30 – 8:00 pm

  • SOUTHERN WESTCHESTER - Wednesday, April 26
    Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY
    6:00 – 8:30 pm

Announcements/Reminders

  1. The 2nd floor CSC restroom has been designated for staff use only.
  2. In preparation for the Judith Altman virtual presentation on Fri, 3/31 periods 8-9, I am sharing this spreadsheet with you. Please keep in mind this is a live document and it may be updated. Tab 1 has teacher assignments for supervision. Tab 2 has student individual room assignments based on their 8th period class. HS students will remain in this location for both periods. The MS will be switching rooms so we will have a short break during passing. If you teach a mixed class, please let your student know where they are to report to.

  3. The staff "lunch" sign-in out books are located in the HS main office and Mrs. Ianello's office for PE staff.
  4. Important Dates in June:

  • 10th grade class trip to Rye Playland-Thursday, 6/8/23
  • Senior Send-off on Monday, 6/13/23 at Oakland Beach

Reminders:
  1. New student ID cards were distributed in homeroom. Students should be wearing their IDs so they are visible. Students are choosing to wear their IDs around their neck, by their waist or on their bookbag. If you choose to wear it on your bookbag, please remember to take it with you when you leave the restroom. If your ID card is not visible when you enter the building, staff will ask students to show us their ID card. If you forget your ID card at home on any given day, please stop by the main office and see Mrs. Oddo. She will issue you a temporary ID (lanyard or sticker). If you take the temporary ID on the lanyard, you will be asked to leave a personal item. This item will be returned to you when you return the pass at the end of the day. If it is not visible, you will need to show your ID card to gain entry into the building.

  8. The League of Women Voters of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester Student Civic Achievement Award for high school juniors. The award is $1,000.000 and the application deadline is 5/15/23.

  9. Alexis Friedman's Fundraising Efforts: Doctors Without Borders, a medical organization currently deployed in Turkey and Syria, is administering aid to civilians in the aftermath of the February 6 earthquakes.
