The Lyons Central School District Board of Education has appointed Dr. Matthew Barr as their next Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Barr is scheduled to begin at the District on September 27, 2021.
Dr. Barr will return to the Lyons Central School District from Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES, where he currently serves as the Principal for Finger Lakes Technical and Career Center. Previously, Dr. Barr supported the Lyons community and District as a Teacher on Special Assignment, Women’s Volleyball Coach and Social Studies Teacher. With his experience at the W-FL BOCES, Dr. Barr has cultivated a passion for improving student opportunities, with a strong focus on the community as a partner.
“It is a true honor to be selected as the next Superintendent of the Lyons Central School District,” says Barr. “I’ve learned so much from my time and experience with the District, and I am extremely excited to return and work collaboratively with students, staff and community to support success and growth. The Lyons Central School District is a special place, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve the District. I can’t wait to see you all!”
“We are very excited to congratulate Dr. Barr and welcome him back to the Lyons Central School District as our new Superintendent,” says Board of Education President Martha Bailey. “Through the Superintendent Search survey, it was clear that the school community was interested in an instructional leader who could foster strong relationships, while creating opportunities for students to achieve excellence. The Board of Education is confident that the preparation Dr. Barr brings to the position will support the District’s mission and success of our students.
